US police are frantically going door-to-door collecting security camera footage and releasing new videos of the suspect, while residents of Providence, Rhode Island, live in anxiety as the perpetrator remains at large.

To reassure the public, authorities have increased their presence and are working to identify the suspect. Providence City Police Chief Oscar Perez stated at a press conference: "We are working to reassure the public by maintaining a constant presence in the community."

The suspect was described as a "solidly built man wearing a dark coat, hat, and face mask." Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha emphasized, "The sooner we identify this person, the sooner we can crack this case."

To expedite the investigation, the FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect. FBI agent Ted Docks warned that the suspect is believed to be armed and dangerous.

The prolonged manhunt has left a deep and lasting impact on residents. The College Hill neighborhood, where the shooting occurred, is shrouded in an "eerily quiet" atmosphere, with most residents staying indoors behind locked doors.

Sue Erkkinen, a real estate agent, shared: "Everyone is confused and anxious. We're inside our homes. We're all glued to the TV, and it looks like the hunt has started again." Fear has caused some families to temporarily leave, while one tenant on the first floor, too scared, asked to move to the second floor.

Last weekend, police temporarily detained a "suspect," offering a brief glimmer of hope to the community. However, Attorney General Neronha later declared: "...there is no basis to believe he is a suspect, therefore... he is being released."

By Monday (December 15), he affirmed that the individual "had been exonerated." The incident completely shifted the direction of the investigation. Neronha stated, "The investigation has now taken a different course."
