In early May 2025, we had the opportunity to visit the economic model of Mr. Duong Van Minh's family with Minh Hoa commune officials. While leading us to visit his family's peach garden, Mr. Minh said: Previously, on this land area, my family planted many types of fruit trees such as lychee and grapefruit, but the economic efficiency was not high. Realizing that peach trees are suitable for the local climate and soil conditions and at the same time bring high economic efficiency, especially in recent years, the demand for playing peach trees for Tet of the people has increased, in 2015, I went to learn and put into trial planting 500 peach trees on an area of ​​4 sao of land.

At the beginning of planting, because he had no experience in caring for the trees, the growth was slow, the peach blossoms often did not bloom on the occasion of Lunar New Year, so his family did not have a stable income from the peach trees. To gain knowledge and techniques for growing peach trees, Mr. Minh proactively learned through books, newspapers, the internet and went to peach gardens in and outside the commune to learn more. Thanks to that, after 2 years, his family's peach garden began to bring economic efficiency, meeting the needs of many people to play with peach trees during Tet.

After having knowledge and experience in taking care of peach trees, since 2019, he has planted more seven-inch peach trees, while also researching and learning more techniques for bending and shaping peach trees and grafting them into water hyacinth shapes, bringing high economic value and being favored by many customers inside and outside the province.

Mr. Minh shared: To create a water hyacinth peach tree, it takes at least 18 young peach trees, about 2 m high, to be grafted together and shaped into a shape similar to a water hyacinth vase. The grafting time is usually from November to December of the lunar calendar, after the peach has been stripped of its leaves and nutrients are concentrated to nourish the buds. After shaping it into shape, depending on the customer's needs, I will cover the tree trunk with a layer of moss to increase the aesthetic value of the tree.

Thanks to diligence and hard work, up to now, Mr. Minh's family has developed nearly 2 hectares of ornamental peach trees of all kinds, with over 3,000 peach trees, including 200 water hyacinth peach trees. In particular, from the beginning of 2025 until now, Mr. Minh's family has continued to research and create the "one pillar sky" shape (a peach tree shape grafted and shaped from 9 small peach trees to form a large, cylindrical, strong, sturdy trunk, with branches and tops concentrated high up, spreading out as if supporting the sky) for 400 peach trees to increase economic value, meeting the aesthetic needs of many customers. Every year, customers from all over the provinces and cities such as Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Bac Giang... come to his house to buy or rent peach trees at prices ranging from 1 to 5 million VND/tree (depending on size); In particular, the water hyacinth peach trees cost from 4 to 6 million VND/tree, some trees are even worth up to 15 million VND. Every year, Mr. Minh's family sells over 1,000 peach trees to the market, bringing in an income of over 500 million VND after deducting expenses.

From growing ornamental peach trees, his family not only has a stable income but also creates jobs for 1 regular worker and 3 seasonal workers in the locality. Not only is he good at economics, he also enthusiastically participates in local movements, willing to share his experience with people in need.

Mr. Hoang Van Minh, Party Secretary and Chairman of Minh Hoa Commune People's Committee, said: The peach tree planting model of Mr. Duong Van Minh's family is a typical economic model of the commune. Mr. Minh's family is also the only household in the commune that grafts peach trees into water hyacinth shapes, bringing high economic efficiency. From the success of the model, every year, the Party Committee and the commune government regularly promote and encourage local people to visit and learn from Mr. Minh's methods and spirit of striving to develop the family economy, contributing to increasing income and improving life.

Thanks to his continuous efforts and endeavors in the family economic development movement, in January 2025, Mr. Minh was honored to receive a certificate of merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for having an effective economic development model, contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and job creation for local workers.
