On the afternoon of June 30,President Vo Van Thuong received Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Oh Young Ju to say goodbye before accepting his new assignment.

PresidentVo Van Thuong congratulated the Ambassador on her new assignment, and expressed his confidence and hope that Ms. Oh Young Ju will always support and continue to strongly promote the Vietnam-Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming time.

Ambassador Oh Young Ju is pleased and proud to have contributed to the relationship between the two countries in recent times; especially his efforts to contribute to the organization of the extremely successful State visit to Vietnam by President Yoon Suk-yeol of the Republic of Korea.

Informing that the Korean side highly appreciated the success of this visit, Ms. Oh Young Ju shared that the Korean people and the Ambassador personally enjoyed the image of the two heads of state sitting and talking on chairs on the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi . The image showed the close and intimate feelings between the two leaders, inspiring the continued strengthening of the good friendship between the people of the two countries.

Ambassador Oh Young Ju said that after the visit, President Yoon Suk-yeol directed Korean authorities to implement the cooperation agreements signed between the two countries.

The Ambassador believes that with the attention and guidance of President Yoon Suk-yeol and President Vo Van Thuong, these commitments and cooperation agreements will soon be implemented in practice; bringing the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries to an increasingly deeper, more practical and effective level.

Thanking Ambassador Oh Young Ju for informing about the positive effects after the visit, President Vo Van Thuong affirmed that the visit of President Yoon Suk-yeol was highly valued by the Vietnamese side, with a warm and respectful welcome. The senior leaders, people and businesses of the two countries were all interested in and highly appreciated the results of this visit.

Recalling the intimate and impressive images during President Yoon Suk-yeol's recent visit to Vietnam, President Vo Van Thuong shared: "We walked together and talked naturally, sincerely, and with trust, just like the good relationship between the two countries."

The President introduced Hoan Kiem Lake to the President of South Korea.

The President congratulated Ambassador Oh Young Ju on successfully completing his mission in Vietnam and making important contributions to promoting the relationship between the two countries, especially his participation in organizing two events: the Vietnamese President's visit to Korea at the end of 2022 and the recent State visit to Vietnam by the Korean President.

Through the Ambassador, President Vo Van Thuong expressed his gratitude and appreciation for President Yoon Suk-yeol’s instructions to promptly implement the commitments and agreements signed between the two countries; and affirmed that Vietnam will actively implement these commitments.

At the reception, Korean Ambassador Oh Young Ju reiterated President Yoon Suk-yeol's invitation during their meeting in Hanoi, inviting President Vo Van Thuong and his wife to visit Korea soon. The President happily accepted the invitation and said that the visit would be arranged at an appropriate time.

On June 29, the South Korean Presidential Office announced the first government reshuffle under President Yoon Suk Yeol.

According to the announcement, Ms. Oh Young Ju will be withdrawn from the country even though she has only been in Vietnam for less than a year. She was appointed to the position of Second Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.

Although her term was short, it witnessed many milestones in the relationship between the two countries and coincided with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1992 - 2022), so many exciting activities took place. Especially when the two countries upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at the end of 2022.
