Soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Station supported Ms. Luong Thi Hom's family in Tao village to build a house from the support fund according to Directive 22-CT/TU.
Chairman of Trung Ly Commune People's Committee, Ngan Van Lon, said that the whole commune has 11 Mong villages with a high rate of poor households. Many villages such as Ta Com, Pa Bua, and Ca Giang are nearly 50km from the commune center, and the difficult roads make the price of construction materials even higher.
Households receiving support to build houses under Directive 22-CT/TU are mostly extremely poor families, unable to pay more than the support of 80 million VND. Ms. Len Thi Ngheo, in Tao village, had to withdraw her name from the support list because she did not have enough money. "I am old and live alone. Please give up my house to families with more children who need a house," Ms. Ngheo shared.
Border guards and youth forces of Trung Ly commune transport bricks.
Faced with this reality, officers and soldiers of Trung Ly Border Guard Station went directly to the village, worked with the people to level the ground, carry bricks, mix mortar, and build the house. Major Quan Dinh Thao, Deputy Political Commissar of Trung Ly Border Guard Station, said: "Today, 6 officers and soldiers helped Ms. Luong Thi Hom, in Tao village, level the ground, transport materials, and build the house. Thanks to saving on labor costs, the house is expected to be completed in the next two months."
Border guards and people enthusiastically built.
Under the blazing sun, the border guards and youth union members worked enthusiastically. Mrs. Hom tearfully said: "I thought I would never have a decent house in my entire life. Now that dream is coming true."
Thanks to the cooperation of the green-uniformed soldiers, the houses under Directive 22-CT/TU are more meaningful.
Mr. Loc Van Thoai, also from Tao village, has a family of seven, who have been living in a cramped, dilapidated house for a long time. "With a new house, the children can get a good education, and my elderly parents can feel more secure. Luckily, the army helped, otherwise, I don't know when we could build a house," Mr. Thoai shared.
The cooperation between border guards and people increases solidarity in border communes.
Major Quan Dinh Thao affirmed: "We consider this a political task, as well as the responsibility of border guards."
Mr. Ngan Van Lon commented: "Each completed house is not only a shelter, but also a crystallization of affection, of the spirit of "the station is home, the border is homeland, and ethnic people are blood brothers". Up to now, thanks to that solidarity, the locality has built 121 houses according to Directive 22-CT/TU".
