Nguyen Bao Chau defends Tien Phong Golf Championship title: Nervous, excited and ready for new challenges

Last year, Bao Chau won the Tien Phong Golf Championship 2024 for the first time. How do you feel about returning to this playground after a year?

When competing in a tournament that has both sporting and community value like Tien Phong Golf Championship, I am truly proud. Returning to this year's season, the feeling is still as special as the first time: nervous, excited, but the pressure is also greater, because I have to defend the title I have won. This is the first major title in my career, so every moment on the field has a very special and important meaning.

One year after the Tien Phong Golf Championship 2024 title, how do you see yourself changing?

Last year's championship opened up opportunities for him to participate in major tournaments and reap many memorable achievements, including second place in Group C at the Pacific Cup International Junior Golf Championship 2024 in Taiwan (China), which is also the first international title of his career.

Now, I feel much more confident. My tactical thinking in competition has improved, my technique on the field is increasingly perfected, and most importantly, my experience and strong mentality help me to be ready to face all the challenges ahead.

This year, the tournament was held for the first time at Thien Duong Golf Course - Legend Valley Country Club ( Ninh Binh ). How do you rate this course?

Before the tournament, I spent a whole day at Legend Valley Country Club to familiarize myself with the terrain. This is a beautiful yet challenging course, with lakes, deep bunkers and complex winding fairways. I believe that any golfer must maintain a high level of concentration to conquer this course.

What do you expect from your performance at Tien Phong Golf Championship 2025?

At the moment, my form is not at its best, but I have been training seriously and diligently. I have been working with my coach to improve my technique and mental training, preparing for this tournament.

With my current form, I don't have too many expectations for results, but I will definitely try my best to compete and show my best version to defend the title I have won.
