Nguyen Filip returns to CAHN's main squad

On the afternoon of November 6, goalkeeper Nguyen Filip recovered from his groin injury faster than expected and returned to the CAHN squad.

Nguyen Filip returned after nearly 3 weeks with a groin injury.

During the away match against Macarthur FC in the 4th match of Group E of AFC Champions League Two 2025/26, Vietnamese-American goalkeeper Nguyen Filip was unexpectedly named in the starting lineup of CAHN by coach Mano Polking. Filip returned to the goal after suffering a groin injury in the first leg against this opponent at Hang Day Stadium on October 23.

In that match, Filip had to leave the field in the 72nd minute, giving way to young goalkeeper Vu Thanh Vinh. Just a few minutes after he left the field, CAHN was equalized by Macarthur FC 1-1. This affirmed the important role of the goalkeeper born in 1992 in the defense system of the police team.

According to the initial test results, Filip was diagnosed with a recurrence of his groin injury and needed 6 to 8 weeks to fully recover. However, the fact that he was able to play nearly a month earlier than expected shows his remarkable efforts in the treatment and rehabilitation process.

During Filip’s absence, CAHN maintained a stable performance with two consecutive victories in the V.League. In which, CAHN won 1-0 against CA TP.HCM and 2-0 against PVF-CAND. Currently, CAHN is only 4 points behind Ninh Binh , and has played 2 fewer matches in the domestic league.

The return of Nguyen Filip not only brings peace of mind to CAHN in the race at AFC Champions League Two but is also a positive signal for the Vietnamese team before the FIFA Days in November. If he is in good form and in stable physical condition, the Vietnamese-American goalkeeper can be called back to the national team by coach Kim Sang-sik to prepare for the match against Laos.
