Musician Lu Nhat Vu's funeral will take place tonight, March 29, at the Ministry of National Defense Funeral Home (Go Vap, Ho Chi Minh City). On the morning of April 1, his family will take him to Binh Duong for burial.
Musician Lu Nhat Vu's real name is Le Van Gat, born in 1936 in Binh Duong. After graduating from the Vietnam Music School (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music) in 1962, he worked at the Southern Song and Dance Troupe, the Liberation Arts Agency and the Institute of Music Research.

The most prominent songs include: Song of the Southern Land, The Saigon Girl Who Carries Ammunition, Rest in Peace, Mom, Afternoon on the Meo Village ... Among them, the most famous Song of the Southern Land was co-composed by him and his wife - writer and poet Le Giang.
He is also the author of a series of research works on Southern folk songs such as: Studying Southern folk songs (1983), Vietnamese folk songs in the South (1986), Music and Life (1989), 300 Southern folk melodies (2002), Ho in Vietnamese folk songs (2004), Vietnamese lullabies (2005), Ly in Vietnamese folk songs (2006); Talking poetry - Talking rhymes - Southern falling poetry (2010); Liberation march (2011); Looking for invisible treasures (2014); Wandering in life's love (2022)...
He was recognized by the Vietnam Record Book Center as a musician with many works collecting and researching Vietnamese folk songs .
Throughout his career, musician Lu Nhat Vu has won many medals and noble awards such as: State Prize for Literature and Arts 2001; Ho Chi Minh City Prize for Literature and Arts 1997 - 1998; Huynh Van Nghe Prize, Binh Duong 2005; Nguyen Thong Prize for Literature and Arts 2017...
