On the evening of June 25, an exchange and art performance program introducing the musical portrait of musician Tran Long An with the theme Tran Long An - Songs from the sun and fire , took place at the City Theater (HCMC).

The music night was jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, and Ho Chi Minh City Television.

The City Light Music Center and the Ho Chi Minh City Television Music Band jointly performed.

Attending the music night were Mr. Pham Chanh Truc - former Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue - Head of the City Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Mr. Huynh Thanh Nhan - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Mr. Do Hong Quan - Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations ; Mr. Nguyen Duc Trinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association... along with musician Tran Long An and his family.

Tran Long An's music night - Songs from the sun and fire includes four parts: Singing for the homeland, Singing for youth, Singing for everyone, Singing for life with songs associated with the name of musician Tran Long An.

These are the songs: Songs from the sun and fire, A life, a forest, Love for the red soil of the East, On the land of human love, Please be a street singer, Starry night in the city...

Ms. Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City - said that the art program Tran Long An - Songs from the Sun and Fire aims to remind and honor the milestones in the musician's creative career.

"In 1975, he was one of the core members, the leading bird in the movement "Sing for my people" alongside musicians Ton That Lap, Tran Xuan Tien, Truong Quoc Khanh...

His songs speak for the patriotism of the youth, protesting against unjust wars: Singing on the Road of Struggle, The Mother of the Chessboard...

He has more than 50 years of composing, and is considered by his seniors to have his own language, close to Southern musical materials, and to exploit and explore many innovations.

Each song leaves a separate story, rich in thought, carrying many thoughts about people, life... This is clearly shown through the songs "Dan sao Hau Giang", "Tinh nguoi dat do mien Dong", "A life of a person, a forest of trees... " - Ms. Thanh Thuy said.

Tran Long An's music is distilled from the quintessence of life.

The music night featured many singers such as: Ta Minh Tam, Cam Van, Van Khanh, Pham The Vi, Quang Linh, Ho Trung Dung, Hien Thuc, Quoc Dai...

Songs by musician Tran Long An were once again played, bringing many emotions to the audience.

Sitting in the audience, musician Tran Long An could not hide his emotions, he continuously clapped to the beat, cheering on the singers.

Musician Do Hong Quan shared that he has been in contact with musician Tran Long An for nearly 40 years. Musician Tran Long An always knows how to distill the quintessence of life and people into musical notes with very unique characteristics.

Wherever he went, he left his mark. That shows his thoughtfulness in composing. Through his music, one can see his patriotism very clearly. He is an exemplary person, responsible in his work.

Musician Nguyen Van Sanh has known musician Tran Long An since 1969. He said: "An and I are like shadows and form, soul mates. Every memory I have with him is profound."

Musician Nguyen Van Sanh said that after organizing the Singing for the People night in December 1969, both of them spent many sleepless nights on the streets. When they entered the war zone, they both attended a music course taught by musician Luu Huu Phuoc.

In this music night, there was the participation of Associate Professor, Doctor Le Hanh - who was assumed to be musician Tran Long An who wrote the song " Love of the Red Land of the Eastern Region" for him.

Because with this song, Dr. Le Hanh won first prize in the Singing Contest of Young Workers of Ho Chi Minh City in 1976 organized by HTV.

Musician Tran Long An was born on September 29, 1944, in Binh Dinh. He was formerly vice president of the Vietnam Musicians Association, president of the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, and president of the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Literature and Arts Associations.

He was one of the leaders of the "Sing for my people" movement in the 1970s.

In 1972, the musician was sent to the liberated zone, where he studied music and revolutionary literary theory.

In 1974, he went to the North and received formal training at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music.

After the country was unified, he worked in the cultural sector in Ho Chi Minh City.

Over 50 years of composing, the musician has more than 100 songs with many themes and musical styles.

For his contributions to music, musician Tran Long An was awarded the Medal for the Cause of Vietnamese Music by the Vietnam Musicians Association, the Second Class Labor Medal (2002), and the State Prize for Literature and Arts (2007)...
