Receiving free vegetarian meals in Ho Chi Minh City on Buddha's birthday: 'Feeling very warm'

According to Thanh Nien , on the occasion of Buddha's birthday, especially on the 15th day of the 4th lunar month today (May 12), many restaurants announced that they will give away free vegetarian dishes, hoping that people will happily come and receive them if they need them.

Early in the morning, a noodle shop on Pham The Hien Street (District 8) was crowded with people coming to receive vegetarian noodles. Before that, the shop owner announced that he would give out hundreds of meals on the occasion of Buddha's birthday.

Many people of all ages, mostly the elderly and ordinary workers, come to receive free vegetarian meals at the restaurant. The restaurant owner and his relatives are busy preparing and making the meals as quickly as possible so that no one has to wait long.

The restaurant representative said that on normal days, the restaurant sells noodles. However, on the occasion of the 15th day of the 4th lunar month, the restaurant also gives away vegetarian dishes to the people. "We plan to not only distribute on this Buddha's birthday but will try to maintain it in the coming time on the 15th and 1st of every month. The owner hopes to bring warm meals to those in need," the restaurant manager added.

Ms. Vo Thi Luu (74 years old) living in District 8 said that she lives with her grandchild, and is too old to work, so her circumstances are difficult. Knowing that the restaurant was giving away vegetarian food, she was extremely excited and woke up early to receive it. "I received 3 portions, 2 for me to eat for breakfast and lunch, and one for my grandchild. Receiving free meals like that saves a lot. Thank you very much to the restaurant owner! Receiving the food makes me feel very warm!", she was moved.

This morning, at number 269 on Bong Sao Street (Ward 5, District 8), the snail restaurant of Ms. Ngoc Thao (33 years old) and her husband, Mr. Huu Loi (33 years old) gave away 70 free vegetarian meals to everyone.
