At the age of 20, Thu Ha left the Military Zone 2 Art Troupe and moved to work at the Hanoi Drama Theater. During this period, she worked in both the North and the South. In the movie Jade Leaves and Golden Branches , Thu Ha played the role of Nga, the daughter of a district governor, who falls in love with a poor man.
