Mr. Quach Quang Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion, said that Vietnam is in the process of transitioning to a green economy and low-carbon development. Therefore, using energy economically and efficiently is one of the practical solutions to help develop the economy, conserve national energy resources, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and move towards the Net Zero target by 2050.
“Innovative startups in the field of energy efficiency play an important role in the energy transition and greenhouse gas emission reduction in Vietnam. The application of advanced technology solutions not only helps businesses improve productivity and optimize costs, but also contributes to energy saving and sustainable development,” said Mr. Quach Quang Dong.
At the seminar, experts, policy makers and business representatives discussed and analyzed challenges, opportunities, proposed policy mechanisms, contributing to promoting innovative startups in the field of energy efficiency in Vietnam today.
At the same time, policy consultation is needed to facilitate the effective implementation of the AIS4EE Project (a creative start-up project in the field of energy efficiency). This project will actively contribute to the National Program on Energy Efficiency and Conservation for the period 2019 - 2030, with the goal of saving 8 - 10% of the country's total energy consumption.

According to Mr. Mai Van Huyen, an expert in innovative start-up policies in energy efficiency, although the number of energy efficiency start-ups in Vietnam is not large, there is a large space and potential for development. He cited that in 2024, in just 2 months of promotion, the AIS4EE project received 85 applications, including 35 Vietnamese enterprises.
The solutions/products participating in the project are diverse, such as: energy management system, building energy consumption simulation, electric vehicle charging optimization, battery storage efficiency improvement... Through practical surveys, it is shown that the solutions/products all have low investment capital, but bring high efficiency in reducing CO2 emissions.
Regarding the difficulties and challenges, Mr. Huyen said that Vietnam currently does not have specific regulations on creative startups in energy efficiency; lacks a basis for using budget resources to organize activities to promote and support startups for energy saving; does not have a specific financial mechanism to support startup projects on energy efficiency; lacks organizations and incubators with enough capacity to support the completion of ideas and energy saving products...
