In Lai Chau : Than Uyen district solemnly organized the 2023 New Year Flag-Salute Ceremony in a solemn and dignified manner, attracting over 2,000 people and tourists to participate.

The first Flag-Salute Ceremony of the year has a particularly important meaning, expressing national pride, sacred respect for the Fatherland, contributing to raising awareness and sense of responsibility of each cadre, party member, worker, civil servant, employee and people of all ethnic groups in the district, together with the entire Party Committee and government of Than Uyen district to promote spirit and responsibility, carry out tasks right from the first days and months of the new year, striving to exceed the targets and tasks of socio -economic development in 2023.

In Mu Cang Chai district (Yen Bai): Promoting the traditional culture of pounding sticky rice cakes to welcome the New Year 2023

Banh day is a traditional dish, a unique culinary culture of the Mong people, expressing the gratitude of descendants to their grandparents, ancestors and the land. Banh day is also a symbol of love, the steadfast loyalty of Mong men and women, Banh day also symbolizes the Moon, the Sun - the origin of humans and all species on Earth.

Traditional sticky rice cake of the Mong people is made from fragrant sticky rice. The sticky rice must be from the highlands without any impurities. The steamed rice to make sticky rice cake is pounded by hand, so when the rice is dried, the temperature must be high enough so that when milled, the rice grains do not break but still retain the delicious flavor, with the smooth layer on the outside of the rice grains to increase the aroma and stickiness of the cake. The sticky rice is washed, soaked in spring water for 2 to 3 hours, then taken out to drain and put into a steamer to steam the sticky rice. The mortar to pound the sticky rice cake is made from a sturdy tree trunk with fine grain and hollowed out like a dugout canoe. When it is hot, pound it quickly to make it smooth; if it cools down, it is difficult to do so. The pounder must be strong and skillful.

Many tourists have interesting experiences at the Banh Day Pounding Festival in Mu Cang Chai district.

After pounding it until smooth, they shape it into handfuls to put on trays. With skillful and meticulous hands, usually of women, they shape them into flat, round, and curved shapes and put them on trays wrapped with fresh dong leaves or green banana leaves to prevent the cakes from sticking together.

In Lao Cai: At exactly 5:45 a.m. at Lao Cai Station, the SP3 train carrying 400 passengers, including more than 250 international tourists, running from Hanoi to Lao Cai blew its whistle as it entered the station.
