According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Dong Thap province, at this time, Dong Thap province has basically completed the summer-autumn rice production plan and is actively implementing the 2025 autumn-winter crop. Currently, the entire province has planted 75,738 hectares, reaching 61.5% of the plan. Of which, the area of rice in the seedling stage is 15,945 hectares, tillering stage is 53,349 hectares, and heading stage is 6,444 hectares.
According to Mr. Le Van Chan, Deputy Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Dong Thap province, due to the early and prolonged rains this year, the increased humidity in the air has led to the development of fungal diseases, especially rice blast. In particular, during the tillering to heading stages, leaf-rolling caterpillars, stem borers, whiteflies, and rice stem borers will appear. Therefore, farmers need to proactively respond, regularly inspect their fields to promptly detect and treat outbreaks.
Regarding rice blast disease, upon detection, farmers must immediately stop fertilizing, especially with nitrogen fertilizer, and proceed with treatment according to the instructions of specialized agencies. In addition, the Sub-Department also requested local authorities to strengthen propaganda, training, and technical support for farmers in early identification and effective control of pests and diseases to protect crops and achieve high yields.

* In Tay Ninh province, as of now, approximately 28,909 hectares have been sown for the 2025 autumn-winter crop. The Tay Ninh Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment stated that it is closely monitoring and providing timely information on diseases, weather, climate, and hydrology, especially tracking the development of pests and diseases on crops. This information is disseminated promptly through various media channels so that farmers can proactively manage production and effectively control pests and diseases. At the same time, it continues to recommend a concentrated and simultaneous rice planting schedule to avoid pests and prevent the emergence of harmful organisms affecting rice production.
According to Ms. Dinh Thi Phuong Khanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province, the locality continues to pay close attention to and strictly direct the implementation of enhanced scientific and technical transfer, advising people to sow according to the seasonal schedule and regularly inspect their fields...
The autumn-winter crop is a short but crucial crop; if the planting schedule and pest control are not well managed, or if production is spontaneous, the risks are high. Therefore, the department is directing localities to implement synchronized solutions regarding technical aspects, production organization, and market access, especially by promoting the collaborative role of cooperatives.
By 2025, Tay Ninh province aims to achieve a rice production of 3,770,000 tons or more, with high-quality rice accounting for 70% of the total output.
