Can Tho University and Can Tho University Hospital support Da Nang people with 500 million VND to overcome the consequences of floods.

DNO - On November 15, a delegation from Nam Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University Hospital, two prestigious educational and medical units founded by Dr. and Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung, from Ha Nha commune (Da Nang city), visited and supported Da Nang people who suffered heavy losses due to floods in 2025.

In Thuong Duc commune, from early morning, people gathered at the headquarters of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune. 200 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, were given by benefactors to households that suffered heavy losses.

The heavy rains and floods in late October and early November 2025 caused many families to lose all their crops and livestock, their houses and household items were damaged, and their production land was silted up.

Ms. Vo Thi Ngan and Ms. Truong Thi Nua are two elderly, lonely people who were moved when receiving support. Ms. Ngan said that she lived alone and could not cope when the floodwaters rose quickly, and many livestock and poultry were swept away.

In addition to Thuong Duc commune, the delegation also presented 4 communes: Ha Nha, Dai Loc, Phu Thuan and Vu Gia with 100 million VND/commune. The total support fund is 500 million VND, equivalent to 1,000 gifts, from the cooperation of benefactors. Some difficult cases not on the list were also visited, encouraged and shared by the delegation.

Mr. Huynh Minh Thuy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dai Loc commune, said that during the recent heavy rain and flood, Dai Loc was the flood center, many areas were deeply flooded, isolated, causing a lot of damage to people's property.

"The presence of Nam Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University Hospital brings joy to local people and encourages them to rebuild their lives," said Mr. Thuy.

Representative of the working delegation, Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung expressed sympathy for the people's losses and hoped for support to help people soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Dr., Lawyer Nguyen Tien Dung is the founder of Can Tho University in 2013, previously known as Southern College ( Ho Chi Minh City), Tay Do University. After 12 years of development, the school trains 40 undergraduate majors, 7 master's majors and 1 doctoral major.

This is a very large human resource training facility for the Mekong Delta, recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training as one of the top 21 educational facilities that have been rated as stars, meeting international standards according to the 4-star UPM comparison rating system and international training cooperation in the Southeast Asia region.

Students from Da Nang and Quang Nam who are admitted to the school will receive tuition support, dormitory accommodation and job orientation after graduation.

Nam Can Tho University Hospital will be operational from 2022, with a scale of 300 beds, international standards, a practice place for health students studying at the school and meeting the medical examination and treatment needs of Can Tho people and the Mekong Delta. The hospital is implementing a 500-bed expansion project with a 20-storey building, with a total investment of about 1,200 billion VND, expected to be completed in 2027.
