On the afternoon of July 23, speaking with CAND Newspaper reporters, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police said that recently, the unit has coordinated with functional agencies to invest in and upgrade modern traffic light systems, install surveillance cameras at key intersections... to effectively support traffic command and control.

Currently, the light rhythm at each intersection is flexibly set according to each time frame and actual traffic volume. The adjustment is made through an intelligent traffic management system, which can measure vehicles to promptly change the appropriate light rhythm.
Normally, changing the light rhythm is done before and after rush hour (morning peak from 6:30 to 8:30, afternoon peak from 16:00 to 19:30), at 0:00 every day or when there is a sudden increase in the number of vehicles. The goal is to optimize the flow of vehicles and limit congestion.

During the adjustment process, some phenomena may occur such as: no countdown display, red or green light lasting after the end of the count, or multiple signals turning on at the same time. However, this is a temporary technical phenomenon, usually ending after one light beat.
The Traffic Police Department recommends that people participating in traffic pay attention to and strictly comply with traffic light signals and command and control signals of the Traffic Police on duty at intersections to ensure safety.
In case the adjustment takes an unusually long time, affects traffic activities, or records problems related to the traffic light system, people are requested to report to the Traffic Command Center, Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police via phone number: 0692.196.550 for timely support and handling.
