Part 2: Towards green goals and sustainable development

From the right policies and resolutions, the work of planting forests and developing the green tree system throughout the province has been implemented regularly, continuously and created an increasingly practical and effective movement. Thousands of hectares of forest and millions of trees have been newly planted and protected in recent years, bringing positive effects in greening bare land, increasing forest coverage, greening urban areas and rural areas, thereby contributing to building Vinh Phuc to be increasingly rich and prosperous.

In order to effectively carry out the work of planting and developing the green tree system and protecting the natural environment, Vinh Phuc focuses on implementing well the activities of forest management, protection and development with the participation of the entire political system and each citizen.

Through propaganda work, the province has gradually mobilized the combined strength of all levels, sectors and the masses to participate in forest protection and development.

The province currently has nearly 37,000 hectares of forest and forest land, accounting for 29.88% of the total natural land area; forest coverage reaches 25%. In the period 2015-2021 alone, Vinh Phuc has planted more than 4,600 hectares of new forest. In 2022, the newly planted forest area is 700 hectares.

Along with the concentrated afforestation work, thanks to the participation and drastic direction of local Party committees and authorities, the scattered tree planting work was also widely deployed with the participation of organizations, households and individuals across the province and achieved good results.

In recent years, more and more agencies, businesses and individuals have shown interest, supported and spent large amounts of money to buy trees and organize planting in schools and typical localities leading the way in building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas of the province.

Typically, Vinh Phuc Electricity Company planted more than 1,000 trees with a total value of more than 500 million VND at schools in Lap Thach and Song Lo districts; Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development ( BIDV ) - Dong Do Branch bought more than 1,000 trees and planted them at schools in Vinh Tuong district; Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) organized tree planting in 5 typical communes of the province's advanced new rural model...

2021 is the first year that the socialization of scattered tree planting has been focused on and implemented, but has achieved remarkable results with more than 1 million newly planted trees, reaching 101.53% of the annual plan. In 2022, the whole province planted nearly 624,800 trees, reaching 104.13% of the plan. After planting, the trees are cared for, protected, grow and develop well. This is an important basis and premise to continue spreading the implementation of scattered tree planting in the coming time.

Identifying infrastructure construction as one of the three strategic breakthroughs of the province for the 2020-2025 term to build Vinh Phuc into a green-clean-beautiful-civilized locality, the province is focusing on mobilizing many resources to invest in infrastructure for green cities by focusing on implementing priority solutions to develop urban green tree systems.

This strategy has gradually brought positive benefits to the improvement of climate, architectural space, urban landscape, and the quality of people's living environment. This is not just a slogan but has been realized through the implementation of planting and managing street trees with synchronous and scientific solutions.

Newly planted and replaced urban trees basically ensure the standard species, specifications and sizes. The number of street trees has increased, the species are increasingly diverse, uniform in size and height, and are cared for and protected in accordance with the characteristics of the species.

In the two cities of Vinh Yen and Phuc Yen, urban decoration with flowers and ornamental plants on holidays and Tet has contributed to creating highlights and increasing the beauty of central areas. Thanks to these solutions, the urban green ratio in Vinh Phuc has improved significantly in recent years.

Currently, the province has about 61 hectares of public green space in urban areas; 7 projects of green parks, cultural squares, cultural and sports centers with a total area of nearly 91 hectares have been approved and are under construction. The average green space area per capita in the general planning projects, zoning plans, and detailed urban planning are calculated to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

In the current period, facing the increasingly complex situation of climate change, planting trees, afforesting, promoting the socialized movement of scattered tree planting, and increasing the area of green tree coverage are important and urgent tasks for everyone.

Reality has proven that the development of green tree systems associated with green growth has helped many localities and countries not only achieve environmental and social benefits in protecting the ecological environment, improving landscapes and responding to climate change, but also improve competitiveness indicators and develop sustainable values.

Therefore, in order to move towards sustainable development, Vinh Phuc continues to build and implement plans and targeted solutions to develop the green tree system. In particular, focusing on core tasks such as striving to plant 600,000 scattered trees including dracontomelon, rosewood, magnolia, and lat hoa trees in 2023.

Strengthen propaganda work, raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, communities and people for forest development and tree planting; mobilize the participation of the entire political system, agencies, organizations, households and individuals.

Strengthening socialization, attracting all resources from economic sectors and integrating tree planting activities into socio-economic development programs to contribute to the effective implementation of the Prime Minister's Project "Planting one billion trees in the period of 2021-2025", making tree planting a truly effective, substantive emulation movement with strong influence.

Promoting the value of green construction in improving the environment, enhancing people's quality of life, contributing to realizing the goal of making Vinh Phuc a centrally-governed city by 2030.
