As an ancient land, a gathering place of ancient Vietnamese people, Vinh Phuc has many historical relics, scenic spots and many traditional craft villages. Currently, the whole province has 29 craft villages, of which 20 are recognized by the Provincial People's Committee with over 8,000 production and business establishments, mainly focusing on groups of industries such as handicrafts, wooden products, rattan and bamboo weaving, ceramics, glass, textiles, small mechanics, production and trading of ornamental plants... creating jobs for about 55 thousand workers in rural areas.
To promote the development and preserve the spirit of craft villages, the Provincial People's Committee has issued many mechanisms and policies to support land, finance, trade promotion; encourage investment, purchase of modern equipment and machinery, and apply science and technology to production and business to innovate designs, enhance value, and create new vitality for craft villages.
Through many ups and downs, with investment in modern equipment and machinery, and increased application of digital technology in production and consumption, up to now, Lung Ha carpentry, Yen Phuong commune (Yen Lac) still stands firm and develops, with many famous products.
In 2023, at the provincial-level skilled craft competition, Yen Phuong commune's craft village products won 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 2 third prizes and 1 consolation prize. In 2024, a set of 3 products including jackfruit wood scrolls, jackfruit wood altars and stone incense wood four-season paintings of Tuoi Thuan wooden furniture production facility received a provincial-level 3-star OCOP product certificate. This not only affirms the quality and brand of Tuoi Thuan wooden furniture production facility in particular and Lung Ha wooden furniture in general, but is also an opportunity to promote, introduce and bring craft village products further to the domestic and international markets.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuan, owner of Tuoi Thuan wooden furniture production facility, shared: Along with the attention, support and facilitation of all levels, sectors and local authorities, in the production process, the facility always puts quality and reputation first. Keeping up with digital technology, the facility actively applies scientific and technological advances, innovates equipment, and highly skilled human resources in production, promotion and introduction of fine art wooden products to customers. Thanks to that, the facility is increasingly developing and affirming its brand in the market.
Grasping market trends and bringing traditional handicraft products far and wide, in recent years, many households, production and business establishments in traditional craft villages in An Nhan commune (Vinh Tuong) have promoted the application of science and technology, especially digital technology in production to improve quality, reduce costs, increase competitiveness and protect the environment.
Currently, An Nhan commune has 5 traditional craft villages including Ban Mach traditional blacksmith village; Van Giang, Van Ha, Thu Do, Bich Chu traditional carpentry villages with nearly 2,000 households and production facilities, creating stable jobs for more than 3,700 workers, contributing to promoting economic development in the area.
As one of the pioneers in applying digital technology to production and product consumption, Thanh Nien Forging Cooperative, An Nhan commune, currently invests in many types of machinery with modern technology such as high-frequency furnaces, LRam machines... to both optimize production costs and help protect the environment. In particular, since 2020, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cooperative has flexibly found ways to overcome difficulties, expanding online sales channels combined with direct sales, livestreaming, closing orders through platforms and social networking sites such as Facebook, Shopee, Tiktok... bringing practical results.
Mr. Phung Van Do, Director of Thanh Nien Forging Cooperative, said: Science and technology not only improve product quality and design, expand the consumption market but also contribute to preserving the quintessence of the craft village. Thanks to that, the set of 8 kitchen knives of the Cooperative was recognized as a typical rural industrial product at the provincial level in 2021, at the Northern region level in 2022 and achieved a typical rural industrial product at the national level in 2023. Currently, the Cooperative creates jobs and stable income for 10 workers in the area.
In order to preserve and develop craft villages, in the coming time, the province will increase support in terms of capital, technology, and develop traditional craft village models associated with developing craft village tourism. In particular, it will encourage craft households, production and business establishments to increase the application of science and technology in production, promote trade and expand domestic and foreign consumption markets with technology...
