Charity group in Da Nang supports gifts worth over 1.5 billion VND to people in Ka Lum district (Laos)

(QNO) - The Thoa Thoa Family charity group in Da Nang City supported many gifts worth more than 1.5 billion VND to help the poor people of Ka Lum district (Sekong province, Laos).

Through the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Quang Nam province, from April 30 to May 4, the Thoa Thoa Family Charity Group in Da Nang City implemented a humanitarian program to help the disadvantaged people of Ka Lum district.

Thoa Thoa Family Charity Group will give 1,200 gifts including necessities (rice, salt, MSG, cooking oil, fish sauce, dried fish...), roofing sheets for people and school supplies for disadvantaged students in the district. The total value of the aid is more than 1.5 billion VND.

The above goods were supported by Truong Hai International Transport and Logistics Company Limited for free transportation from Da Nang City to the center of Se Kong province via Bo Y International Border Gate ( Kon Tum ).

Ms. Pham Thi Thoa (born in 1988) - representative of Thoa Thoa Family Charity Group in Da Nang City said that in 2024, the group also organized a humanitarian program to help people in difficult circumstances in Ka Lum district and understood the difficulties and deprivation of the people here.

This year, through the appeal and mobilization of the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Quang Nam province, the group sponsored 1,200 of the above gifts.

Sekong is the poorest province in Laos, of which Ka Lum district is the most difficult locality in the province with the poverty rate accounting for 73% of the population, and the average income per capita reaching 310 USD/year.

Over the past years, the Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Association of Quang Nam province have mobilized agencies, units and enterprises inside and outside the province to carry out many practical humanitarian programs in Sekong province.
