Inadequacies in road traffic organization in the province: Need to be overcome soon

There are many shortcomings

Recently, on National Highway 27C connecting Nha Trang City with Da Lat City, there have been a number of traffic accidents that have made many people uneasy. Specifically, on March 19, on Khanh Le Pass, Bo Lang Village, Son Thai Commune, Khanh Vinh District, a traffic accident occurred between a passenger bus and a truck. Although there were no casualties, the accident caused dozens of passengers to panic and the passenger bus was severely damaged. On March 31, also on Khanh Le Pass, Bo Lang Village, a passenger bus traveling from Da Lat to Nha Trang, when reaching a sharp curve, lost control of its speed and overturned on the side of the road. The accident injured 6 people on the passenger bus and damaged the bus. Mr. Tran Van Tu (a passenger bus driver running the Nha Trang - Da Lat route) said that this route has many sharp curves, especially Khanh Le Pass, so if the driver is subjective and lacks observation, an accident can easily occur. In particular, some stops at Khanh Le Pass have buses coming and going frequently. The buses are parked on the street, out of sight of the drivers, so it is very dangerous.

National Highway 27C connecting Nha Trang with Da Lat has many shortcomings in road traffic organization.

According to statistics from the Department of Construction, although the functional units have continuously reviewed and fixed, there are still 8 shortcomings on National Highway 27C that need to be promptly handled, of which the 33km long Khanh Le Pass has 5 shortcomings, mainly due to the location with a large positive slope, above there are many large rocks that can easily roll down, some locations have many water streams that pose a high risk of landslides during the rainy and stormy season; many sections have sharp curves and do not have speed bumps.

In addition, on National Highway 1 there are also many shortcomings in traffic organization that need to be resolved soon, such as: No flashing yellow lights, no speed-reducing lines at the location opposite Van Ninh Bus Station (Van Ninh District); the sign is covered at the location opposite Cam Phu Primary School (Cam Ranh City); the 50km/h speed limit sign has not been installed at the location passing through Van Gia town (Van Ninh District) with a dense population... On October 23rd Street (Nha Trang), there is still a black spot for traffic accidents at the intersection with Binh Cang inter-village road (Vinh Trung Commune). The Traffic Police Department of the Provincial Police has proposed to build a hard median strip at this intersection to limit traffic accidents.

Currently, the road signaling system in the province has been basically invested, upgraded synchronously, operated stably, creating favorable conditions for commercial activities, helping people raise awareness of traffic rules, building a culture of safe traffic in the community. However, during use and operation, the road signaling system is affected by objective and subjective factors, natural disasters, storms and floods, causing signs, traffic lights, road markings, markers, etc. to become blurred, peeled, damaged, etc. The Provincial People's Committee has assigned traffic infrastructure management units in the province to regularly inspect, review, strengthen maintenance of bridges and roads, adjust and supplement signs, paint road markings, traffic signals, clear visibility, ensuring convenient traffic for the transport of passengers, goods and people's travel.

At the location of the road leading from the Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressway to National Highway 1 (under the Provincial Road 3 overpass), there are problems due to limited visibility and insufficient lighting at night.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, regarding the organization of road traffic in the province (including national highways managed by the Ministry of Construction and roads managed by localities), the Provincial Traffic Police force has discovered and recommended that the road management units review and inspect black spots, potential points, and inadequacies of the road signaling system. As a result, 17 inadequacies, black spots, and potential traffic accident points have been resolved, including 11 points on roads managed by the Ministry of Construction, 6 points on roads managed by localities; the remaining 36 inadequacies, black spots, and potential traffic accident points, most of which have been inspected by a team on site and proposed solutions.

Mr. Tran Hoa Nam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that currently, some shortcomings in the organization of road traffic have been included in the repair plan by the route management units in 2025. Regarding the repair of black spots on the 23/10 Nha Trang route, the Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Construction to preside over, review, and soon agree on a plan for implementation. The review and correction of shortcomings in the organization of traffic has been assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to the units for urgent handling in order to improve the effectiveness of traffic management, ensure safety for people when participating in traffic on the road and urban aesthetics.

Currently, the province manages more than 5,615km of roads, including 2 entrusted national highways, National Highway 1C and National Highway 27B, nearly 26km long; 34 provincial roads with a total length of more than 481km; district roads with a total length of more than 476km; urban roads with a length of more than 755km; commune roads with a length of more than 2,853km; and village roads with a length of more than 1,000km. In the province, there are also 4 national highways managed by the Ministry of Construction (National Highway 1 with a length of 152km, National Highway 26 with a length of 32km, National Highway 26B with a length of 14.3km, National Highway 27C with a length of 65.5km) and the Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressway with a length of more than 49km, and the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao expressway with a length of 5km.
