The new political - administrative center and conference - performance center of Hai Phong city in the new urban area north of Cam river, Thuy Nguyen city.
With a total investment of nearly VND5,000 billion, the two projects, which were assessed by Secretary of the City Party Committee Le Tien Chau as "projects of the century" of the city, will be put into use this year.
The project will help the city's agencies have new, modern, convenient headquarters and operate more effectively. It is also a favorable condition for applying modern, smart technology to support administrative transactions, information processing, and improve and enhance the efficiency of serving people and businesses.
Tam Bac River, from Lac Long Bridge to Tam Bac Park, the city invested more than 1,400 billion VND to renovate, to be completed in 2019.
The project has improved traffic connectivity, promoted the historical and cultural values of the Tam Bac River, and created public spaces, ecological landscapes, and urban highlights.
Phase 2 of the project is being implemented, from Lac Long bridge to Thuy Doi junction.
The Binh Bridge South Interchange has a total investment of 1,482 billion VND, started construction in 2018 and opened to technical traffic in 2020.
This is the first intersection in Hai Phong designed with 3 floors, including underground floor, surface floor and 432.2 m long overpass. The basement connects from Bach Dang street across the railway to Hong Bang street. The surface floor is renovated to its current state and the overpass connects from Binh bridge road across Hong Bang street to Re river.
Next to the intersection is the Vinhomes Imperia Hai Phong urban complex, one of the most beautiful residential areas in the city, built on land of a cement factory that had been abandoned for many years.
Tan Vu - Lach Huyen Bridge connects Dinh Vu peninsula, Hai An district with Cat Hai island district, inaugurated on September 2, 2017. This is the longest sea-crossing bridge in Vietnam, with a length of 5.44 km, a length of 10.19 km, a width of 29.5 m with 4 lanes.
The bridge is designed to be permanent with prestressed reinforced concrete. The bridge girders weigh about 80 tons, are 9 m wide, and are over 2.5 m high, and are joined together to form a 4.5 km long tunnel. Inside the tunnel, an electric lighting system is installed to serve the maintenance and repair of the bridge girders. The total investment of the project is nearly 11,850 billion VND from Japanese ODA loans and counterpart funds from the Vietnamese Government .
The project not only creates opportunities for Hai Phong City to develop its transport infrastructure but also promotes the city's socio-economic development in the process of reaching out to the sea. After the bridge was built, Cat Hai Island had many large projects built such as the Automobile Factory, the Cat Hai - Phu Long cable car line, the Lach Huyen deep-water port cluster...
Hoang Van Thu Bridge with its seagull-shaped architecture connects Hong Bang District with Thuy Nguyen City. This is an important item of the project to invest in building technical infrastructure for the new urban area north of Cam River with a total investment of 2,173 billion VND from the city budget, starting construction on January 6, 2017 and opening to technical traffic on October 15, 2019.
The bridge is 1,570 m long, 33.5 m wide, including 4 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 mixed lanes and 2 sidewalks. Of which, the arch bridge runs between concrete-filled steel pipes with 3 spans, the largest main span in Vietnam today with a length of 200 m. The bridge's clearance height is 25 m.
Under the bridge on the Hong Bang side is a riverside park and public parking lot.
The new Rao Bridge project across Lach Tray River, connecting the three districts of Hai An, Ngo Quyen and Duong Kinh, was opened to traffic on the afternoon of January 25, 2022.
The old Rao Bridge was built over 40 years ago, collapsed in 1987 and was renovated in 1989, with a steel structure, 186 m long and 11 m wide. Faced with traffic pressure and the landscape of the city gateway, Hai Phong decided to demolish the old bridge and build a new one with a total investment of over 2,200 billion VND.
The Ho Sen - Cau Rao 2 road project, from Nguyen Van Linh intersection to Cho Con intersection, was implemented from May 2018, opened to traffic in 2020, with a total investment of more than 2,000 billion VND.
When completed, the road will contribute to completing the traffic system structure, connecting the city center with Hanoi - Hai Phong highway and Do Son tourist area, promoting the effective exploitation of Pham Van Dong and Cau Rao 2 roads, reducing the load on Cau Dat and Lach Tray roads... The land fund on both sides of the road has been exploited to develop the urban area in a modern and civilized direction.
Le Hong Phong Street, one of the most beautiful streets in Hai Phong. The route was put into use in 2004, 5 km long, 6.4 m wide, passing through Ngo Quyen and Hai An districts. The road not only connects Cat Bi airport with the city center but also creates large development space for land funds along the route.
After 20 years, many buildings, hotels, supermarkets, and shops have been built along the road.
The East-West Highway is divided into two sections, Nguyen Truong To - Bui Vien, passing through the districts of An Duong, Kien An, Le Chan, Ngo Quyen and Hai An. The 20 km long highway, with a total investment of up to 5,700 billion VND, started construction in December 2013 and was completed in February 2020.
The project has created a premise for the development of urban areas along the route, improving traffic connections between the Hai Phong seaport system and national highways.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 37, 7.7 km long, and build a new road on the left side of Chanh Duong Canal, Vinh Bao District, 7.57 km long, according to the standards of a third-class plain road, was inaugurated by Hai Phong on October 13, 2019.
The starting point of the route is Lang Am bridge, Ly Hoc commune, connecting with the road leading to the special national historical and cultural relic site of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem Temple. The end point is the new Nhan Muc bridge, Nhan Hoa commune, connecting to National Highway 10, to the center of Vinh Bao District People's Committee.
This is one of the projects to change the face of Hai Phong's rural areas. By mid-2024, Hai Phong City had 100% of its communes meeting new rural standards, 89 communes meeting advanced new rural standards, 54 communes meeting model new rural standards, and 7/8 districts recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting new rural district standards.
Nguyen Trai Park, 36,000 m2 wide, was built on the foundation of the Ngo Quyen District Sports Area and will be completed by the end of 2021. This is one of the projects in the city's investment program for building parks and flower gardens in the 2021-2025 period. The goal is to renovate and upgrade the central urban area, create landscapes and public works for social welfare with high cultural value, and improve the quality of people's spiritual life.
Ships enter Lach Huyen deep-water port cluster on the night of May 2. Located in Cat Hai town, Cat Hai district, Lach Huyen port cluster is the largest in the North, possessing a prime location, convenient for connecting trade with domestic and international provinces and cities, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the region.
According to the plan, this deep-water port cluster will be 2,000 hectares wide, with a coastline of 55 km, aiming to reach a capacity of 100 million TEUs/year by 2030, along with a system of 15 modern ports.
