Having just returned from the conference to honor outstanding farmers in the province-wide movement to encourage learning and talent, Mr. Nguyen Trong Binh in Hamlet 4, Dai Son Commune (Do Luong) was busy with his work as a director of an agricultural service cooperative and a fruit tree farmer.

Specifically, Mr. Binh is currently investing in planting 3,000 guava trees, more than 100 green-skinned grapefruit trees and nearly 200 jujube trees, grown according to VietGAP standards. The fruits are covered with protective layers from the time they are formed until harvest, both isolating harmful insects and pests and ensuring food safety when not using pesticides.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien in Dai Son commune said that as a resident living in the same hamlet, close to Mr. Binh's farming area, everyone witnessed the cultivation and care of fruit trees. Moreover, Mr. Binh's family also regularly hired workers who were members of the cooperative, also local residents, to come to the family's farming areas to take care of the trees and harvest the fruit, so everyone understood Mr. Binh's farming methods.
Every season, people in Hamlet 4, Dai Son Commune as well as neighboring hamlets come to the garden to buy guava when Mr. Binh's family harvests fruit. People here really like the guava grown by Mr. Binh's family because it is both sweet and crunchy, the price is reasonable, and it ensures food safety.

Mr. Binh said that ensuring food safety, protecting the environment and human health is always a top priority. For thousands of guava, grapefruit, apple and jackfruit trees in his family's gardens, the fruits are all carefully wrapped in fruit protection bags, without the need to use pesticides. In addition, to ensure high quality, crispy and sweet guava, apple and grapefruit, he also adds organic fertilizers and microbial fertilizers.
“For more than 3,000 guava trees planted for more than 3 years, I bought seedlings at the Plant Breeding Research Institute through the guidance of officials from the Provincial Farmers’ Association and reputable professional agencies. The price of each seedling in the garden is nearly 50,000 VND, but with proper care, the trees quickly bear fruit and the quality of the fruit is sweet, crunchy, and moderately hard,” said Mr. Binh.
Every year, Mr. Binh's guava garden yields 2-3 harvests, each harvest yields 3-4 quintals, which are sold in the garden for 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg. Every time the guava is harvested, people and traders come to buy it all in a day. Mr. Binh's guava products have also been certified to meet district-level OCOP standards for 2 years now.

In addition to being a good producer, Mr. Nguyen Trong Binh is also an enthusiastic and dynamic director of an agricultural service cooperative. Officials from the People's Committee of Dai Son commune said that the whole commune has more than 12,000 people, of which more than 70% live on agricultural production. Dai Son Agricultural Service Cooperative, with Mr. Nguyen Trong Binh as director and 4 members of the executive board, has helped the cooperative to promote its effectiveness. Notably, it has called for the construction of internal irrigation works, contributing to the construction of new rural areas.
In 2024, from the operating budget, the cooperative's executive board mobilized people to support the construction of 1,005 meters of irrigation canals in the fields with a cost of more than 1 billion VND. In addition, people, who are also members of the cooperative, always actively participate in building roads, donating land to open roads to build Dai Son commune to complete the goal of a new rural commune. In 2025, Dai Son Agricultural Service Cooperative plans to install 600 drainage culverts in the fields to serve production.

Mr. Nguyen Cong An - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Do Luong district said that, in addition to being good at production, Mr. Binh always propagates and encourages members and farmers to register to build models of "Learning Family", "Learning Clan", "Learning Community" ... in many different forms and contents, such as vocational training, learning farming and animal husbandry techniques, learning to use digital technology in production, business and consumption of agricultural products. Mr. Nguyen Trong Binh is one of three typical farmers of the district who have just been commended and rewarded by the Provincial Farmers' Association in May 2025. This is an activity to honor farmers who are both good at production and business and have many positive contributions to the benefit of the community.
