Funerals in the flood, using boats to carry coffins for burial

(Dan Tri) - Unfortunately, a relative passed away right when the flood came, so people in Le Thuy district ( Quang Binh ) had to use a boat to carry the coffin for burial.

On the afternoon of October 30, at the "flood center" of Le Thuy (Quang Binh), the water has receded, however, thousands of houses are still flooded and isolated. On the road leading to the center of this district, vehicles cannot circulate, people have to use boats to get around.

In Le Thuy district, families whose relatives unfortunately passed away during the flood had to raise the coffin of the deceased and postpone the burial. Among them, there were 2 cases in Kien Giang town, 1 case in An Thuy commune and 1 case in Loc Thuy commune.

After 3 days of sitting and watching over her father's coffin in the midst of the floodwaters, this morning (October 30), Ms. Dang Thi Kieu, a resident of Le Thuy district, and her family used a boat to take the deceased's coffin to the burial site. Ms. Kieu's father, Mr. Dang Dai Long (63 years old), passed away due to illness on the morning of October 27.

Ms. Kieu's family's house is located in a low-lying area, flooded more than 1.5m. In recent days, her family had to ask neighbors to use scaffolding to raise the coffin to avoid getting wet.

Currently, although water is still flooding many villages in Le Thuy district, because they cannot leave the deceased there for too long, many families have borrowed or rented boats to transport the coffins for burial.

Another case of loss on the day of the flood was Ms. Duong Thi He, residing in Loc Thuy commune.

This afternoon (October 30), her family also used a boat to take her to her resting place.

Mrs. He lives with her son in a level 4 house. This flood, the house was flooded nearly 2 meters deep, the family had to put her coffin close to the roof.
