Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will run commercially from December 22.

On December 22, Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) officially began commercial operation after many years of "missed appointments". Metro Line 1 will start from Ben Thanh underground station (District 1) to Long Binh Depot (Thu Duc City), including 3 underground stations: Ben Thanh, City Theater, Ba Son station and 11 elevated stations.

Specific operations of Metro Line 1

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR), in the first 6 months of commercial operation, Metro train No. 1 will run about 200 trips, each day from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

In particular, during peak hours from 6-8am, 11-12pm and 3:30-6pm every day, the train will run every 8 minutes and use 9 trains.

For the remaining time slots, the train frequency will be 12 minutes/trip with 6 trains.

According to MUAR, Metro train No. 1 will run about 200 trips, each day from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Also according to MAUR, after the first phase ends, Metro Line 1 will extend its operating hours to 11:30 p.m. every day.

During the week from Monday to Friday, the train frequency during peak hours is 5 minutes/trip and during normal hours is 10 minutes/trip. As for off-peak hours, it is 15 minutes/trip, a total of about 276 trips/day.

For Saturdays, Sundays, summer vacations and public holidays, the peak hour frequency will be 8 minutes/trip, normal hour will be 10 minutes/trip. And off-peak hour will be 15 minutes/trip, with a total of about 226 trips/day.

How to take the Metro?

The Public Transport Management Center (HCMC Department of Transport) said that 17 routes and 150 electric buses are ready to roll when Metro Line 1 officially enters commercial operation.

All 150 electric buses will connect Metro stations with residential areas, bus stations, commercial centers, high-tech zones and universities and colleges along the Metro line such as Thu Duc City, Binh Thanh District, District 1, etc.

The lowest fare for Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien is 7,000 VND and the highest is 20,000 VND/trip, depending on the distance traveled; non-cash payment is 6,000 VND and the highest is 19,000 VND/trip.

For passengers buying a day ticket, it is 40,000 VND/person/ticket, with no limit on trips during the day, and a 3-day ticket is 90,000 VND/person, with no limit on trips during the 3 days. For monthly tickets, the price is 300,000 VND/person/ticket for general passengers, and 150,000 VND/person/ticket for students.

According to MAUR, to help passengers easily grasp and buy tickets quickly, the operator will publicize ticket price information at Metro stations, on the media and on the official website.

In addition, specific information about schedules, fares and stations will be updated on the website and mobile application, helping people and tourists plan their travel conveniently and effectively.
