(NADS) - Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2024 celebrates its 60th anniversary with four standout covers: Kate Upton, Gayle King, Chrissy Teigen and Hunter McGrady, along with three special covers featuring 27 of the magazine's legends.
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit has announced four covers for its 2024 edition, including big names like Kate Upton, Gayle King, Chrissy Teigen and Hunter McGrady. These are famous beauties in the entertainment and modeling industry, chosen to appear on the cover of the most prestigious swimsuit magazine on the planet.
The 60th anniversary edition brings together 27 legends who made SI Swimsuit the hottest swimsuit magazine brand on the planet.
Kate Upton is a famous supermodel who has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue multiple times. Gayle King, a famous broadcaster and author, brings diversity and freshness to this year's issue. Chrissy Teigen, a model and author, is also a familiar and beloved face. Hunter McGrady, famous for his plus-size body, represents diversity and breaks traditional beauty standards.
Kate Upton first appeared in SI Swimsuit in 2011 as Rookie of the Year. Since then, she has appeared on the cover of the magazine three times (2012, 2013, and 2017). With the release of the 2024 issue, she will be the cover girl of SI Swimsuit for the fourth time.
2024 marks an important milestone for SI Swimsuit, celebrating its 60th anniversary. In addition to the four main covers, the magazine also released three more covers, featuring 27 legends associated with the brand, creating a special and memorable edition.
Of the four covers, Gayle King is the only one who doesn't have a modeling background. She's best known as a CBS author/radio host. With three Emmy awards and Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2019, the 70-year-old host's debut on SI Swimsuit is true to the spirit of the swimsuit magazine - celebrating extraordinary women. “King unabashedly reminds us that women are limitless and can control their own destinies,” MJ Day observed.
On the significance of the decision, Editor-in-Chief MJ Day explained that the images speak to collective strength, power, beauty, and diversity. Her goal was to create an issue that would showcase the brand’s “revolutionary” past decades while also serving as a window into the future.
The CBS Morning host shared that she never thought of becoming a swimsuit model. She emphasized that her appearance on the beach in Mexico and standing in front of Yu Tsai's camera proves that sometimes people can dream bigger than they think for themselves.
“We want women to feel seen. We also want them to feel heard. We want them to feel limitless. And we don't want anyone, male or female, to look at someone else or themselves and think that they can't do something because of whatever limitation someone has placed on you at some point in your life... I think it's important to see all these different types of women doing things that may not have been possible at first, but they do it, grow from it, embrace it, and actually feel confident and better after they've done it.
