Showing solidarity with the flood-stricken people, tens of thousands of officers and soldiers from various military units have been present to carry out rescue and relief efforts, ready to immerse themselves in the rain and floods for days on end.

Undeterred by the long distances, in recent days, hundreds of officers and soldiers of the 315th Division have marched hundreds of kilometers from Da Nang to Hoa Thinh commune (Dak Lak) to share the difficulties with the people in the most vulnerable area.

Witnessing the devastation after the flood, Corporal Mang Binh (143rd Regiment, 315th Division) shared: “When I arrived, I felt so sorry for the people. Many families have lost everything; their rice, their greatest asset, is now covered in mold and sprouting green shoots… I can only do my best to help alleviate their suffering.”

At Nguyen Viet Xuan Secondary and High School (Tuy An Tay commune), the classrooms were completely covered in mud. Ms. Vo Thi Minh Ha, a Literature teacher, couldn't hide her emotion upon seeing the young soldiers of the 2nd Division covered in mud: “The flood rose quickly and unexpectedly, so most of the equipment, desks, chairs, books, etc., were soaked. Thanks to the soldiers, most of the difficult tasks have been completed these past few days. With this dedicated assistance, I think the students will be able to return to school in a few days.”

United in their efforts to help the flood-stricken areas, officers and soldiers of the Dak Lak Border Guard Command have been on duty for many days, actively present in the dangerous areas of the communes and wards. According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van An, Deputy Head of the Operations Department of the Provincial Border Guard Command, nearly 400 officers and soldiers have been deployed to directly participate in rescue and relief efforts day and night, under the direction of their superiors.

During days of heavy rain and flooding, the soldiers faced the hardship of having no electricity or phone signal, communicating mainly through walkie-talkies. In areas such as O Loan, Tuy An Dong, and Tuy An Nam communes, many places were flooded to a depth of 3-4 meters, with water levels rising for days on end, making rescue efforts extremely difficult. Yet, the border guards remained wholeheartedly dedicated, prioritizing the safety and lives of the people.

Not only in the eastern communes, but also in the western part of the province, hundreds of army officers, soldiers, and militia members were present at hotspots such as Yang Mao, Cu Pui, Vu Bon, Krong A, and Ea O… For almost a week straight, from the first signs of landslides, landslides, rising floodwaters, and receding floodwaters, they were always there, undeterred by danger and hardship.

Directly commanding forces at critical points, Colonel Le Van Tam, Commander of the Defense Command of Region 4 – M'Drắk, shared: “Once the floodwaters receded, officers and soldiers continued to clean up the environment, houses, and especially schools. This is the top priority so that students can return to school soon and people can stabilize their lives quickly.”

Also on November 24th, immediately after the floodwaters receded, officers and soldiers of the Zone 5 Defense Command – Dray Bhang continued to be present, quickly deploying forces to assist the people of Hoa Son and Krong Ana communes in transporting their belongings and household items back home and arranging stable living spaces.

The officers also coordinated with local organizations to clean up the environment in Hamlet 1 and Hamlet 2, Hoa Son Commune. The main roads were actively cleared by the green-uniformed soldiers, mud and waste were collected, ensuring safe traffic and contributing to disease prevention after the flood.

To support the flood-affected people of Dak Lak province, as of November 24th, the 5th Military Region has deployed forces in coordination with agencies, units, and localities to repair 183 houses, 48 ​​schools; 8 cultural centers, 5 public works; 5 health stations; 5 cemeteries and historical sites affected by floods and landslides; helped 660 households clean up their houses; repaired 4 km of landslide-affected roads; and disinfected 63,000 m2 of 9 schools in Hoa Thinh and Phu Hoa communes.

Military Region 5 also provided flood-affected people in Dak Lak province with 12,000 mosquito nets; 12,000 sets of clothing; 20 tons of rice; 14 tons of dried food; 5 tons of other food items; and 2,200 gift packages. The Da Nang City Military Command provided the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command with 7,000 mosquito nets and 6,520 sets of clothing.
