Belonging to the poor household category of the commune, Ms. Vang Thi Do's family, Phec Bung village, Ban Pho commune (Bac Ha district) is currently living in a wooden house built nearly 40 years ago, many places are damaged, not ensuring safety, especially during the rainy season. Recently, her family received 60 million VND from the State, the Party Secretary of the commune mobilized benefactors to support 5 tons of cement. With the savings and a loan of 100 million VND from the policy bank, she built a new house... Ms. Do's family's dream house has been built, and the final stages are being completed.

Ms. Do shared that her husband died early, and she had to raise three children alone, while the family's economic situation was very difficult. If it weren't for the Party and State's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, she wouldn't know when she and her children would have a new house to live in.

Sharing the joy with Ms. Vang Thi Do's family, Mr. Chau Seo Phu's family was very excited to have just moved into a new house. Mr. Phu's family is one of the poorest families in the commune, their economic life mainly depends on agricultural production, so for many years, his family has not been able to build a house to settle down. Mr. Phu shared: After receiving support from the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, along with support from local authorities at all levels, and help from the people in the village, he was determined to build a new, solid and safe house for the whole family. After more than three months of construction, the family has now moved into a new house of 54 square meters. This is the motivation for the family to confidently develop production, gradually escaping poverty.

The implementation of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Ban Pho has received the consensus of all classes of people, as well as the participation of the entire political system with many good and creative ways. According to statistics, in the period of 2024-2025, Ban Pho commune, Bac Ha district has 65 temporary and dilapidated houses. In 2024, the commune completed the elimination of 40 houses, of which 33 were newly built and seven were repaired. Since the beginning of 2025, the commune has organized the repair and construction of the remaining 25 houses.

Mr. Nguyen Van Huan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ban Pho Commune, said: During the implementation process, the locality encountered many difficulties such as lack of land to arrange for building houses for people, many families in difficult circumstances did not have counterpart capital to build houses... For such difficult households, in addition to the support of 60 million VND according to regulations, the commune leaders called on businesses and philanthropists to support more construction materials for the people. At the same time, mobilized militia forces and villagers to help with labor and help to participate in building houses.

To effectively implement the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Bac Ha District Party Committee issued Plan 394-KH/HU dated August 23, 2024 on the implementation of building houses for households with revolutionary contributions, martyrs' relatives; poor households, and near-poor households. The total number of houses implemented in the 2024-2025 period of the district is 1,678, of which 1,182 were newly built and 496 were repaired. In 2024 alone, the district supported the construction of 1,176 houses, and in 2025, construction of 502 houses has started.

However, the process of implementing the program of eliminating temporary houses in remote villages is still facing many difficulties due to the difficulty in transporting raw materials. In addition, the price of materials and transportation costs are increasing; the workload is large..., so the construction progress is affected. However, with political determination, Bac Ha is "overcoming difficulties" to implement the program of eliminating temporary houses and dilapidated houses with the goal of completing the program in the whole district before May 31. At the same time, the district identifies the implementation of the program of eliminating temporary houses and dilapidated houses as a deeply humane program, of the whole people, comprehensive of the entire political system, and an important political task.

Vice Chairwoman of Bac Ha District People's Committee, Chu Thi Duong, said: The district strives to do a good job of propaganda, creating consensus among the people so that everyone can join hands and respond to the emulation movement with the motto "Whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merit contributes merit, whoever has property contributes property, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has little contributes little".
