Nissan X-Trail 2026 launched, adding high-performance NISMO version

Nissan has just launched an upgraded version of the X-Trail SUV in Japan. The most notable highlight is the first appearance of the high-performance version X-Trail NISMO.

Although not Nissan’s best-selling model, the X-Trail remains a mainstay in the company’s global SUV portfolio. The update is aimed at maintaining its competitive position against heavyweights such as the new-generation Toyota RAV4.

In this upgrade, the 2026 X-Trail has been slightly tweaked in terms of exterior, with a glossy black V-Motion grille combined with satin silver, and sharper LED positioning lights.

This is also the first Nissan model equipped with the Intelligent Around View Monitor system - a new generation 360-degree camera that provides sharp and intuitive aerial views.

In addition, the new 2026 Nissan X-Trail SUV also integrates the Google Built-in system, allowing the use of Google Maps, Assistant and Play Store right on the central screen.

The car uses 18 or 19 inch rims depending on the version. The drive system includes front-wheel drive (FWD) options and the e-4ORCE intelligent four-wheel drive system.

The standard 2026 Nissan X-Trail is divided into three levels: S, X and G. Interior equipment varies by version, from fabric seats in the S version to premium NAPPA leather seats in the G version.

The X-Trail Rock Creek is designed with a strong off-road feel, with a Lava Red grille, 17-inch matte black wheels, Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires and a roof rack to help carry outdoor gear. The car is only available in the e-4ORCE 4WD version, with a choice of 5 or 7 seats.

The AUTECH version continues to have a sporty yet elegant spirit, with black leather interior with blue stitching, 20-inch wheels and unique design details. In particular, the AUTECH SPORTS SPEC version has been fine-tuned by Nissan Motorsports in the steering system, suspension and chassis to improve stability and sporty driving feel.

In particular, for the first time, Nissan brings the NISMO philosophy to a popular SUV. The X-Trail NISMO was developed with the goal of combining everyday comfort and the driving feel of a sports car. The car's exterior is imbued with NISMO DNA with aerodynamic details, 20-inch Enkei wheels, a lowered chassis and a newly designed grille that increases frontal downforce by 29%.

The interior is a sporty black-red two-tone. Optional electric and heated Recaro NISMO seats provide a hugging feeling when driving at high speeds. The car is equipped with a specially tuned e-4ORCE 4-wheel drive system, Kayaba Swing Valve suspension system and VCM center console with SPORT mode.

All versions of the new Nissan X-Trail use the e-POWER powertrain, with a 1.5L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates electricity for the electric drive motor: Engine capacity: 144 horsepower; FWD electric motor: 204 horsepower, 330 Nm; AWD electric motor: Additional rear motor 136 horsepower, 195 Nm.
