The second round of negotiations on the bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the United States was held from May 19 to 22 in Washington DC, United States.

After listening to reports and opinions at the meeting and concluding remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the efforts of relevant ministries, branches, agencies and localities in preparing and conducting negotiations; The negotiation delegation strictly implemented the instructions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the General Secretary and the Prime Minister.
The results of the recent negotiation rounds have shown positive signs, the two sides have had the opportunity to exchange, provide, and share information and each other's circumstances, on that basis to understand each other better, sympathize with each other more in the current context, and give positive directions for the next negotiation rounds, aiming for appropriate and balanced results for both sides.
The Prime Minister also welcomed the US side's positivity. In addition, Vietnamese ministries, sectors, agencies, and businesses have continued to contact and work with the US side in many flexible and diverse ways to contribute to promoting the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general and promoting negotiations in particular.

Ministries, branches and agencies, according to their functions, tasks and powers, promptly provided information to the negotiating delegation and reported to the Government Standing Committee on leadership and direction.
Agencies, units, localities, and businesses continue to negotiate and promote the purchase and sale of goods that the United States has strengths in and Vietnam has needs in order to contribute to balancing the trade between the two countries as soon as possible, such as Boeing aircraft, LNG gas, and some agricultural products, etc.
The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, and relevant ministries and sectors have reviewed and promptly handled issues related to projects that the US side is interested in. The Government Standing Committee and the Prime Minister continue to monitor and closely follow the negotiation situation and related developments, closely following the direction of the Politburo and the General Secretary, directing the development and proposal of appropriate, effective, and practical solutions for both sides, in the spirit of harmonious benefits and shared risks.
Relevant ministries, branches and units such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy, and the Vietnamese Trade Representative in the United States have actively and diligently served the negotiating delegation; ministries, branches and agencies have coordinated smoothly and effectively.
Regarding the next work, the Prime Minister stated that, based on the achieved results, the actual situation, and our ability to respond; on the principle of harmonious interests and shared risks between the two sides, ensuring Vietnam's core interests, contributing to consolidating, enhancing, and promoting the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bringing benefits to the two countries and consumers of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world; it is necessary to have appropriate and effective plans and measures to continue negotiations, and try to declare the end of negotiations as soon as possible.
