According to submersible service provider OceanGate, the Titan is made of carbon fiber and titanium, weighs about 11.5 tons and has safety features to monitor the entire structure of the ship.

A CBS reporter who traveled on the Titan in 2022 said that the inside of the ship was quite small, with little furniture, and only one toilet. The ship only had one window for visitors to look out.

With no underwater GPS, the submersible guided by text messages from support ships above. The CBS reporter's trip also encountered a situation where communication equipment failed for more than 2 hours.

The trip is part of adventure tourism reserved for the extremely wealthy.

The five people on the Titan ship that were believed to have exploded during the journey to explore the Titanic wreckage this time included several billionaires such as Hamish Harding (British), OceanGate Expeditions founder Stockton Rush, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman.

Previously, on June 18, the Titan went missing in the Atlantic Ocean while on a tour of the Titanic wreck. Later, on June 22, the US Coast Guard announced that it had found debris from the missing Titan submersible carrying five people to visit the Titanic wreck.
