(Chinhphu.vn) - In the modern landscape of Bac Ninh's rural areas today, the image of the farmer has undergone significant changes. No longer confined to traditional farming methods, Bac Ninh farmers are gradually becoming "modern farmers," mastering techniques, proactively applying technology, and confidently integrating into the market.

In parallel with this process, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have continuously innovated the content and methods of their activities, playing a core role in contributing to building a modern agriculture and a sustainably developed rural area.

The merger of the former provinces of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh to form the new Bac Ninh province not only has administrative significance but also opens up vast development opportunities for agriculture and rural areas. The harmonious connection between the delta region, key industrial zones, and the midland areas rich in agricultural potential has created a diverse development structure that is both dynamic and deeply rooted in local identity. After the merger, the province has 99 Farmers' Association branches, 2,723 sub-branches with over 387,000 members, forming a widespread and robust network capable of covering rural areas and traditional craft villages. This is a crucial foundation for the Provincial Farmers' Association to implement policies, stimulate movements, and strengthen member cohesion.

Over the past two years, the spirit of mutual support among farmers has continued to spread strongly. The Provincial Farmers' Association has mobilized over 1.29 billion VND and nearly 6,000 man-days of labor to support the demolition of 153 temporary houses; donated dozens of "Farmers' Solidarity" houses, hundreds of health insurance cards, breeding cattle, and savings accounts to members in difficult circumstances. Beyond caring for social welfare, the Association also encourages farmers to develop initiatives and improve techniques, transforming small ideas into valuable products and models, contributing to increased production efficiency.

In the movement to build advanced and model new rural areas, the Farmers' Association at all levels continues to affirm its important role. From mobilizing members to donate land and contribute labor to beautify village roads and alleys, to participating in maintaining environmental hygiene, organizing cultural and sports activities, and preserving traditional festivals, the Association is both a force promoting economic development and contributing to preserving the cultural identity of Kinh Bac. The entire province currently maintains 236 environmental protection models, gradually realizing the goal of developing green agriculture and adapting to climate change.

Recognizing digital transformation as a groundbreaking direction, the Provincial Farmers' Association has actively promoted and supported its members in accessing new technologies. To date, more than 187,000 members have participated in the Vietnam Farmers' Digital Platform. The goal is that by 2030, approximately 70% of members will be equipped with basic digital skills; thousands of farmers will bring their products to e-commerce platforms, connecting directly with consumers. Simultaneously, the Association focuses on developing the collective economy linked to value chains, striving to establish an additional 200 cooperative groups and 50 cooperatives within the next five years, closely linking with processing businesses and consumer markets.

The achievements demonstrate that the resilience of farmers in Bac Ninh stems from a solid organizational foundation of the Farmers' Association and a strong spirit of innovation. However, numerous challenges remain, such as small-scale production thinking, uneven application of technology, environmental pressures, and the impact of climate change. This requires all levels of the Association to continue innovating their approach, fostering a desire for creativity, and encouraging a spirit of daring to think and act in each member. In the new phase, the Provincial Farmers' Association clearly defines its goal as building a strong and comprehensive organization, promoting the central role of farmers in agricultural development and the construction of model new rural areas.

Leveraging local advantages, the Bac Ninh Farmers' Association focuses on developing key products towards standardization, traceability, and integration with e-commerce platforms. Regional linkages not only help agricultural products expand their markets but also contribute to improving quality and building brands. Through the "One Commune, One Product" program, the province currently has hundreds of OCOP products achieving 3-4 stars, with many products upgraded and becoming "cultural ambassadors" bearing the distinctive mark of Kinh Bac.

During the past term, despite the changing context and the increasingly demanding requirements of an integrated agricultural sector, the provincial Farmers' Association at all levels has continued to uphold the spirit of solidarity, proactiveness, and creativity, affirming its core role in patriotic emulation movements. Key movements such as "Farmers competing in excellent production and business," "Farmers joining hands to build new rural areas," and "Farmers' association officials and members actively participating in the development of the collective economy" have been widely implemented, creating a vibrant atmosphere of competition throughout the system.

Currently, the province has over 387,000 members operating in 99 branches of the Association; each year, over 60% of farmer households register and at least 50% achieve the title of excellent producers and business operators at all levels. The Association has supported the establishment of more than 200 cooperative groups and 50 agricultural cooperatives; the Farmers' Support Fund has reached nearly 25 billion VND, with an average growth of 10% per year, helping hundreds of households expand production and develop their economy.

One of the key highlights is the provision of supplies, credit, and services to farmers – considered a "support system" to help them feel secure in their production. During the 2023-2025 period, the Association coordinated the supply of over 25,300 tons of fertilizer on deferred payment terms, helping tens of thousands of households reduce their input capital burden. Along with this, the Association provided high-quality plant seeds, livestock supplies, and biological products, contributing to improved production efficiency and environmental protection.

Support for product consumption has also been emphasized. Thousands of farmers have been assisted in bringing their agricultural products to e-commerce platforms; numerous agricultural fairs, markets, and supply-demand connection programs have been organized, gradually forming closed value chains from production to consumption.

At the grassroots level, the Farmers' Association of Truong Son commune is a vivid example of the central role of the organization. With over 3,000 members operating in 26 branches, the Association has effectively implemented propaganda and mobilization work, launching emulation movements for excellent production and business, and building new rural areas. Members have voluntarily donated thousands of square meters of land and contributed labor to build roads and beautify residential areas; environmental protection models are maintained, contributing to making the countryside increasingly bright, green, clean, and beautiful.

It can be affirmed that, on the journey to building ecological agriculture, civilized rural areas, and modern farmers, the Bac Ninh Provincial Farmers' Association has truly been a reliable companion of its members. Through concrete and practical actions, the Association continues to empower farmers to confidently master techniques, strive for legitimate wealth, and work together to build a more prosperous, beautiful, and sustainable Bac Ninh homeland.
