Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc led the delegation.
The program is part of the plan to visit outstanding artists, veterans or those in difficult circumstances, to encourage groups and individuals to carry out cultural and artistic activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee well and is part of the series of activities of Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts Days to summarize 50 years of Ho Chi Minh City literature and arts after the country's reunification.
The visits aim to acknowledge and express gratitude for the contributions of artists in general and artists who participated in the revolution, artists who won the State Prize, Ho Chi Minh Prize, People's Artists, and Meritorious Artists who have worked and contributed to the development of literature and art in Ho Chi Minh City over the past 50 years.
The program also demonstrates the deep concern of Ho Chi Minh City leaders for artists; promptly encourages and motivates artists, creating motivation for them to continue their efforts to contribute to the development of literature and art in the city and the country.
Visit People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi
The delegation visited the home of People's Artist Dinh Bang Phi, a devoted teacher of many generations of opera artists.
Having taught literature, history, and geography, but because of his deep passion for the art of hát bội, artist Đinh Bằng Phi overcame his family's objections to pursue an artistic career.
He started by writing and editing old opera scripts, with concise, meaningful expressions that are close to modern audiences. In addition to being an author, he also studied acting and directed many famous plays.

In 1971, he founded the Dinh Bang Phi opera troupe, which gathered many young artists such as Kim Thanh, Ngoc Khanh, Ngoc Dung, Xuan Quan... touring many provinces, schools and organizing exchanges and talks about opera.
From 1977 to 2003, he worked at the Ho Chi Minh City Opera Art Troupe as deputy head of the troupe, in charge of professional matters. Artist Dinh Bang Phi also researched and wrote the book Looking at the Southern Opera Stage.
On this occasion, his family said they will donate his documents and lifelong research to the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House.

Visit People's Artist Thanh Tuan
The delegation also visited People's Artist Thanh Tuan at the Cai Luong teaching center he founded in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City. After a near-death heart attack, artist Thanh Tuan has fully recovered. He happily and cheerfully welcomed the delegation of Ho Chi Minh City leaders.
Artist Thanh Tuan confided: "During my illness, I received great love from the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, who continuously entrusted me to the doctors and nurses of Cho Ray Hospital. I was touched and happy to receive the care, love, and protection of the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City. That is something I am grateful for and will always remember in my professional life."
Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc said: "The activity of visiting outstanding and veteran artists aims to show gratitude for the contributions of outstanding artists who always love and preserve traditional professions and pass on their profession to future generations."
Mr. Loc hopes that artists Dinh Bang Phi and Thanh Tuan will always stay healthy to continue their careers and pass on the passion for the art of hát bội and cải lương to the next generation.
