7th grade girl beaten by gang, angering many people

On May 15, Ms. Hoang Thi Phuong Thao, Head of the Departmentof Education of Vinh City (Nghe An), said that the Department had requested Ha Huy Tap Secondary School (Ha Huy Tap Ward, Vinh City) to report the incident of a female student being beaten and coordinate with the police to clarify the matter.

Female student M. was grabbed by the hair and beaten by a group of friends.

Over the past two days, a video clip has emerged on social media showing a female student being beaten by a group of female friends. The group takes turns pulling her hair, slapping her in the face, and hitting her head with a sandal.

The victim did not dare to resist the beating, just held his head and cried. There were many students at that time, including some who used their phones to record the clip, but no one intervened.

This clip was posted and shared on social networks, making many people angry.

Speaking to reporters, Ms. Ha Le Hoa Binh , Principal of Ha Huy Tap Secondary School, confirmed that the student who was beaten was HM, a 7th grade student at the school. The group of students who beat HM included 3 students from the school and 1 student from outside the school.

According to Ms. Binh, the incident in which female student HM was beaten happened last February due to a misunderstanding about a love affair between students. After the incident, the school invited the parents and students to the meeting. At that time, HM only said that a friend slapped her a few times. These students then wrote a commitment not to repeat the offense. Up to now, female student M. has stabilized her mental state.

Ms. Binh also said that because the clip was not available at that time, the school did not know the extent of the beating. On the evening of May 13, when the clip appeared, the school reported it to the police and invited the families of the students involved to the school for questioning.

According to Ms. Binh, after the student reported the entire incident, the school did some ideological work for the students and their families. After the verification results were available, the school will convene a disciplinary council and come up with an appropriate solution.
