'Nuoc Son Van Miles': A massive novel about the life and career of Uncle Ho

On May 17, at the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, the Central Theoretical Council, Literature Publishing House and Lien Viet Media and Culture Joint Stock Company launched the novel series "Nuoc non van dam" consisting of 5 volumes by writer Nguyen The Ky.

After many years of preparation, persistently accumulating documents, historical materials and conducting research trips at home and abroad; conducting operations of integrating, analyzing, comparing and contrasting existing documents, in 2022, Associate Professor - Doctor - writer Nguyen The Ky structured the outline and started writing in parallel the novel "Nuoc non van dam" and the stage script of the same name.

The novel series “Nuoc son van dam” consists of 5 volumes, which will be released to readers in 4 years: “Nuoc son” in 2022; “Lênh bình bien” in 2023; “Tu Viet Bac ve Ha Noi ” in early 2024, “Duong lenh Dien Bien” in late 2024 and “Vietnam-Ho Chi Minh” in 2025.

In which, episode 1 "Debt to the country" was made into a play of the same name, introduced to the public in many provinces, cities, agencies and units across the country.

Writer Nguyen The Ky shared that this is a novel that he cherished, prepared and carried out for 20 years, with meticulous and serious research on history, politics, culture...; with experience, accumulated life experience for many years in his hometown Nghe An and many lands in and outside the country and above all, his boundless love for President Ho Chi Minh.

Accompanying writer Nguyen The Ky during the process of creating the work, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, commented that this is a great novel about President Ho Chi Minh. The novel has succeeded in building a portrait of a person who created a path and a history of the nation.

Using the fictional prose genre, the author has built in “Nuoc son van dam” the character image, historical-social context around the main character Nguyen Sinh Cung-Nguyen Tat Thanh-Nguyen Ai Quoc-Ho Chi Minh in a realistic, vivid, simple, deeply humanistic and attractive way for readers. Thereby reflecting the broad social picture of Vietnam and the world.

Dr. Bui The Duc, Deputy Head of the Subcommittee on Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art (Central Council of Theory) assessed that the publication of the historical novel “Nuoc non van dam” by writer Nguyen The Ky in its entirety was a special event to present to Uncle Ho on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of his birth. This is a novel of high ideological and artistic value in the flow of the country’s literature and art.

According to Dr. Bui The Duc, unlike other writers who often only choose "slices" of history to portray the image of Ho Chi Minh at certain times, author Nguyen The Ky has recreated the entire life and revolutionary career of Uncle Ho through literary language.

The novel also contributes to protecting the ideological foundation of our Party at the time of preparing for the 14th Party Congress - the country enters an era of national development towards wealth, civilization and prosperity./.
