Construction of key highway projects is accelerating to open on December 19.

Contractors work day and night

Regarding the Can Tho- Hau Giang and Hau Giang-Ca Mau Expressway Projects, according to Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (project investor), up to now, the construction output of the Can Tho-Hau Giang component project has reached more than 80%; the Hau Giang-Ca Mau section has reached more than 73% of the contract value.

Mr. Thi said that contractors continue to mobilize all machinery, equipment and materials, work overtime to meet construction progress, and at the same time focus on requiring internal staff to speed up acceptance and payment work to meet disbursement progress.

“The My Thuan Project Management Board pledges to continue to strengthen its direction and management, proactively coordinate with contractors, consultants, and localities to promptly resolve difficulties and problems during the construction process with the determination to complete the entire Can Tho-Hau Giang and Hau Giang-Ca Mau expressway projects before December 19, in accordance with the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Construction ,” Mr. Thi affirmed.

As the expressway connecting Dak Lak province with Khanh Hoa, the Chi Thanh-Van Phong project is also being "wound up" by the investor and contractor, working day and night to complete on the upcoming December 19.

Mr. Le Quoc Dung, Director of Project Management Board 7, said that up to now, the overall progress of the project has reached nearly 88%. Contractors have constructed 23.8/48km of C16 asphalt concrete; treated weak soil with wicks, sand wells combined with loading for more than 15km, many sections are ready for unloading.

On bridge projects, contractors are gradually completing railings, expansion joints, and asphalt concrete decks of all bridges on the route in October under the direction of the Ministry of Construction's leaders.

“Project Management Board 7, contractors, and consultants signed a commitment to complete the C16 asphalt concrete pavement by November 30; complete traffic safety works and finishing work before December 16,” Mr. Dung affirmed.

At Package XL01 of the Chi Thanh-Van Phong Expressway Project (valued at over VND 750 billion), Thang Long Corporation is aiming to overcome adverse weather conditions and complete all work undertaken at the project before October 31, 2025, 2 months ahead of schedule.

For locations with land acquisition issues or new locations such as U-turn points and toll stations, the deadline may be later than October 31, 2025. However, Thang Long Corporation still ensures the traffic opening date of December 19, 2025 according to the plan of the Government and the Ministry of Construction.

At the Dong Dang-Tra Linh Expressway Project, according to the report of Deo Ca Group, contractors are currently concentrating more than 3,300 workers and 1,487 pieces of machinery and equipment, simultaneously deploying 186 construction spurs on the entire route. Up to now, the project has an output of 4,626.89/11,397.48 billion VND, reaching 40.6% of the contract value.

Recognizing that in the recent past, the two provinces of Lang Son and Cao Bang have experienced consecutive floods that have directly affected the progress and assets of investors and contractors, Mr. Nguyen Quang Huy, General Director of Deo Ca Group, said that investors and contractors have increased their human resources and machinery by 1.5-2 times to speed up the implementation progress, all focusing on the goal of opening the Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway project before December 19, 2025.

Don't neglect quality for the sake of progress

The leaders of the Ministry of Construction affirmed that the task of completing key expressway projects on schedule by December 19, 2025 is very important, contributing to ensuring the goal of completing 3,000km of expressway in 2025 as directed by the Prime Minister.

The Ministry of Construction requires project management boards to continue to check and evaluate weekly the implementation results and completion capacity of each contractor; promptly and resolutely handle contractors who are late or do not fulfill their contractual commitments according to their authority, and at the same time report to the Ministry on issues beyond their authority.

Investors strictly control progress, increase human resources, machinery, organize construction in "3 shifts, 4 teams", apply technical solutions to shorten loading time waiting for settlement to complete the project soon. Supervision consultants strictly control and strictly implement regulations on quality, technical standards, labor safety, environmental sanitation... not to neglect quality management work because of progress.

“Contractors, especially senior leaders, need to pay special attention to construction packages, all for the common mission, for the honor of the industry and directly for the honor of the enterprise, so that they can direct and organize construction to ensure the committed progress, share and support each other in construction implementation to reach the finish line on schedule according to the motto that has been stated many times by the Prime Minister, that is, 'if you say you will do it, if you commit, you must do it, if you do it, you must get results,'" the leader of the Ministry of Construction affirmed.

Emphasizing that from now until December 19, 2025, there are only about 2 months left, therefore, the Ministry of Construction assigned the Department of Construction Investment and Management to regularly inspect, grasp the situation, and evaluate the volume of work performed (once a week); promptly advise the Ministry to immediately handle difficulties and problems, ensuring project progress.

The State Appraisal Department of Construction Quality, as the standing agency of the State Inspection Council for acceptance work, coordinates with the Department of Construction Investment Economics and Management to strengthen inspection of quality management and acceptance of construction items, ensuring project completion according to plan./.
