Due to the impact of storm No. 11, from the night of October 7 to the morning of October 8, heavy rains occurred in Trung Gia commune, causing flooding in many residential areas and fields. In addition, the Cau River rose above the level III flood warning level, causing many roads and residential areas to be isolated, posing a potential risk to people's safety.

According to a quick report from the Standing Office of the Civil Defense Command of Trung Gia Commune, at 8:00 a.m. on October 8, the water level of Cau River at Luong Phuc station was at 8.8m - higher than alert level III, forcing the Commune People's Committee to mobilize forces to be on duty 24/7, patrolling, guarding the dike and supporting people according to the approved disaster prevention plan.

As of 9:00 a.m. on October 8, Trung Gia commune recorded some initial damage. Specifically, in Da Hoi village, an electric pole fell; many alleys and roads were partially flooded. Provincial Road 35 was flooded 20-30cm deep; National Highway 3 through village 9 was flooded 30-50cm, making travel difficult. The whole commune has 637 households with more than 2,500 people temporarily isolated, mainly concentrated in villages 8, Da Hoi, Binh An, An Lac, Hoa Binh and Do Tan.

Faced with that situation, the Commune Civil Defense Command coordinated with Battalion 86, Commune Police and shock troops to organize support and mobilize people to move to safe places; at the same time, grassroots shock troops were mobilized to clear the flow, stretch warning ropes, and place signs at deeply flooded areas to ensure traffic safety.

Heavy rains also caused landslides in some areas in the villages of Thanh Ha, Lien Xuan and Do Luong, causing one person to break his leg and another electric pole to fall. In addition, the Go Soi pumping station was flooded, making it difficult to drain water from the fields. However, the entire dike system in the commune is still under control and safe.

Faced with the complicated weather developments, the People's Committee of Trung Gia commune issued an urgent dispatch directing villages and residential groups to promptly overcome the consequences of storm No. 10 and proactively respond to the circulation of storm No. 11. Areas at risk of landslides were checked and closely monitored; people in low-lying areas were mobilized to temporarily evacuate to ensure the safety of life and property.

Ms. Bui Thi Thuy Ngan, Head of the Economic Department - Chief of the Office of the Trung Gia Commune Civil Defense Command, said: “We have identified the "4 on-site" motto as the key to natural disaster prevention. Forces are on duty 24/7, ready to rescue and support the evacuation of people and property when the Cau River water level continues to rise. The commune has also fully prepared means and necessities, ensuring that no household goes hungry or falls into danger.”

Currently, Trung Gia commune continues to update the post-storm circulation situation and regularly reports to the City Civil Defense Command for timely direction and support.

With a proactive and determined spirit, close coordination between the government, functional forces and people, Trung Gia is making efforts to overcome the consequences of floods, ensure absolute safety for the people, and be ready to respond to all extreme weather situations in the coming days.
