Raising chickens in a bio-safe manner

Việt NamViệt Nam16/11/2023

Grasping this issue, recently, the Agricultural Technical and Service Center of the town has deployed a model of raising commercial chickens in the direction of biosafety, with Minh Du 2 chicken breed on a scale of 1,000 chickens at 2 households: Mr. Nguyen Thai Hai - Phuoc Tho village and Ms. Tran Thi Kim Hoa - Phuoc Hai village.

With the State policy of supporting 50% of the breed and 40% of the materials, the expected raising time is 4 months. However, in reality, after 95 days of raising, the chickens reached an average of 2.2 kg/chicken and could be sold. The monitoring process showed that the chickens developed evenly, consumed little food, and had a survival rate of over 95%.

In the young stage, it requires the breeder to flexibly adjust the temperature of the heating lamp, ensuring that this step will significantly reduce the loss rate of chickens. After the chickens are 42 days old, the breeder can begin to expand the breeding area according to the terrain of the family's land to suit the care and arrangement of sleeping cages at night. The breeding area needs to be well-ventilated, avoiding rain and wind. And it must be cleaned daily, in addition, it is necessary to use disinfectants before and periodically 1-2 times/week during breeding. Depending on each stage of development, weather conditions, and the time of disease outbreak, the breeder can mix additional oral medications to support resistance and proactively prevent disease. However, the breeding process mainly uses biological yeast preparations, minimizing the abuse of antibiotics when not necessary. In addition, chickens also need to be monitored regularly to promptly detect diseases, treat and eliminate when necessary.

With many advantages seen through practical experience of the model, such as "Minh Du 2 chicken breed has a beautiful appearance, delicious meat quality, fast weight gain, easy to raise, adaptable to local climate and soil conditions, products that suit consumer tastes". And especially the economic efficiency brought, with 1,000 chicken breeds, after 95 days of raising, after deducting all costs, depending on the current price, the breeder can earn more than 55 million VND. With the results, many people visiting the model were excited and planned to change breeds and test raising in the near future.

With the goal of transferring broiler farming techniques, in order to supplement high-yield breed sources, it will help restructure the agricultural sector towards added value and sustainable development.
