Hai Duong Department of Science and Technology has just organized the acceptance of the project of Research and construction of a model of raising New Zealand rabbits in the direction of linking and consuming products in Hai Duong province.

During the 2 years of project implementation, the project management board has built a model for breeding New Zealand rabbits with a total of 3,600 rabbits; and built a model for commercial New Zealand rabbits with a scale of 20,000 rabbits. These models are implemented at farms and households in Tu Ky, Kim Thanh, Nam Sach districts, Chi Linh city and Hai Duong city.

As a result, for the rabbit breeding model, the average conception rate of parent rabbits is 98% or more, the number of baby rabbits is 6/litter, the rate of baby rabbits surviving to weaning is 95-98%, the average profit for 100 parent rabbits is 13 million VND/month.

With the commercial rabbit farming model, the survival rate reaches 95.5%. At 4 months old, rabbits reach an average weight of more than 2.8 kg/head. The average profit for 100 rabbits in 4 months is more than 4.7 million VND.

The project management board introduced and connected organizations and individuals who purchased rabbits inside and outside the province. Through this, 2 contracts for the consumption of about 70% of the commercial rabbits of households in the project were signed.
