At two ends of adversity

This is a short poem by journalist and poet Nguyen Hong Vinh with simple lyrics but vividly depicting the contrasting natural landscape in the North where in one month, there were 5 consecutive cold spells; while in the South, the sun was blazing hot, many areas of rice fields cracked underfoot, plants and grass withered, and livestock lacked food sources. In that context, a couple in love had to abandon their date to go on a spring outing together. However, this distance and busy work were sympathized and shared by both of them, encouraging each other to overcome difficulties, waiting for autumn to come to meet and exchange love. The love itself was nurtured, and has been a source of hope and trust for the two young people...

ON THE TWO ENDS OF ADVERSITY

It's hot and dry in here.

The field cracked so wide that it was wide enough to fit a foot.

The cactus is withered.

The sheep have no food left!

In the North, I had adversity.

Cold and cold forever

Thin clouds for a few days

Cold weather is coming again!

Farmer's work

Busy as a baby

Keep the cows warm

Then cover the rice fields...

Missed the appointment three times

Let's go on a spring trip together

God is so cruel

Steal our spring?!

Loneliness follows loneliness

But the love still flows

Used to waiting

Love is forever!

Autumn will come

Weather in two regions

Shortened warp

We meet again in spring!...
