Every year on the 6th day of Tet, the Tay and Nung people in Cu M'gar commune (Cu M'gar district, Dak Lak province) joyfully hold the Long Tong festival to pray for a bountiful harvest. But the special thing is that in this sacred ceremony, the most beautiful girls in the village must participate.
On the 6th day of the Lunar New Year every year, the Tay and Nung people in Dak Lak enthusiastically celebrate the Long Tong Festival (going down to the fields), an event imbued with traditional cultural identity. Not only is it a ritual to pray for a bountiful harvest, the festival also expresses the desire for reproduction, community unity, and creates a unique cultural space for this land.

On the festival day, the atmosphere in Cu M'gar district, Dak Lak province, becomes bustling and exciting. From early morning, the sound of drums and gongs resonates, blending with traditional dances, creating a brilliant cultural picture.
In particular, the gentle singing of Then, combined with the deep sound of the Tinh lute, invites visitors to join in the fun. People in colorful traditional costumes join in the festival activities, spreading joy and excitement everywhere.

The Long Tong Festival consists of two main parts: the ritual part and the festival part. The ritual part begins with a worship ceremony presided over by a shaman, praying for national peace and prosperity, and good crops. The offering tray is solemnly displayed with typical offerings such as pig's head, boiled chicken, five-color sticky rice, lam tea and fruits.
In particular, during the ritual, the shaman sprinkles "holy water" - brought from the source by the most beautiful girls in the village, symbolizing purity and luck. According to folk beliefs, whoever catches the holy water will have good luck.

Right after the ceremony is the exciting festival with a series of unique folk games such as throwing the ball, tug of war, plowing competition, blindfolded drumming, etc. In particular, the throwing game also attracts a large number of people and tourists to participate, creating a joyful atmosphere and connecting the community.

The fruits are also made of fabric, containing cotton seeds and rice seeds inside, looking very eye-catching.
After many years away from her homeland, Ms. Trieu Thi Thinh (born in 1969, Nung ethnic group, residing in village 2, Cu M'gar commune) emotionally shared: "Although I have been away from my homeland for many years, every time I celebrate the Long Tong festival, I feel like I am returning to my roots. The Tinh lute, Then singing and traditional games help me preserve and cherish the cultural values of my ethnic group."

Ms. Trinh Thi Yen (born in 1972, residing in village 4, Cu M'gar commune) proudly talks about khau nhuc - one of the unique specialties of her people. This dish is elaborately prepared from pork belly, sweet potatoes and typical spices, through many stages of marinating and steaming, creating an unforgettable rich flavor.
