"The relationship between Russia and China is a stabilizing factor, while the good personal relations between the leaders of the two countries allow for further development of relations," Putin said at his campaign headquarters in Moscow after preliminary results showed he won 87.8% of the vote, the highest result ever in Russia's history, according to a survey by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM).

Mr Putin said Russia and China had supported each other in forming strong relations over the past two decades. Referring to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Mr Putin said: "I am sure that this relationship will be maintained, largely thanks to our good personal relations with the president of the People's Republic of China."
“But the most important thing is that the national interests of the two sides are similar. This creates a favorable environment for solving common tasks in international relations, where relations between Russia and China serve as a stabilizing factor,” he added.
China and Russia have built a “no-holds-barred” partnership. Tensions with the US and its allies over the conflict in Ukraine have also pushed the two countries closer together.
China has replaced Europe as Russia's largest energy customer, while Russia's dependence on Chinese products is also growing.
