Former US President Donald Trump claims to have been to the Gaza Strip, but has not provided any evidence to prove that he ever visited the territory.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made headlines when he said he had been to the Gaza Strip, where more than 41,000 people have been killed and most of the buildings have been severely damaged or destroyed by the Israeli military. "I've been there and it's a very tough place to be with all the attacks and what's happened over the last few years," Donald Trump said.

“It could be better than Monaco. Gaza, in particular, has the best location in the Middle East, everything is very good. I have said that for many years,” Trump said when asked if Gaza could be turned into Monaco if built properly. "As a developer, it's probably the most beautiful place, the weather, the water, the climate. This area is the best thing in the Middle East," the former US president continued. The New York Times said there was no record of former President Donald Trump ever visiting the area. "President Trump has been to Israel," the New York Times wrote. In fact, the Gaza Strip has never been part of Israel, although some far-right members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's current coalition government have called for its annexation. The Gaza Strip was home to thousands of Jewish settlers until then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon ordered them out. Meanwhile, Donald Trump's campaign spokesman also said that the former US president "has been to Gaza before," but did not specify when. In 2017, Donald Trump visited Israel as US President during a visit to Bethlehem in the West Bank to meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The Gaza Strip and the West Bank are separate territories, about 40 km apart at their closest point.
