US cancels visas of hundreds of international students
According to CNN, the US government has revoked the visas of more than 300 international students in the country who are believed to be involved in the pro-Palestinian movement, speeding, and destabilizing the US.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that since the beginning of the year, at least 300 visas of international students have been revoked, and affirmed that this move is part of the Trump administration's efforts to target individuals involved in activities "against the national interest".
In addition, international students who do not directly cause trouble can also be targeted by US immigration authorities if they belong to a group with harmful ideology.
He confirmed that most of the cases of international students whose visas were revoked were those involved in the wave of protests in Gaza. "Every time we find someone behaving crazy, we revoke their visa," Mr. Rubio said.
According to data from the post-secondaryeducation website Inside Higher Ed, visa cancellations have come from more than 80 universities, including the University of Oregon, the University of Florida, the University of Colorado, Yale University, Columbia University, and even Harvard and Stanford.
International students confused
On social media platforms, many users have spread videos of American officers carrying out dozens of enforcement actions against international students right on university campuses.
Lawyers representing the students said their visas were revoked abruptly, without prior notice, and they were not allowed to appeal.
Russian citizen Kseniia Petrova said she brought frog embryos to the US from France and had her visa revoked without reason. However, the US Department of Homeland Security told ABC News that "she had an undeclared smuggling plan."

One of the visa cancellation and arrest cases that attracted much attention from the US media was Mahmoud Khalil, a former Columbia University student and legal permanent resident, who was arrested on the university campus.
Another notable case is Xiaotian Liu, a Chinese graduate student at Dartmouth College. He claims he has never broken any laws or participated in any protests in the US, and his visa was revoked “without notice or reasonable explanation.”
Dr. Rasha Alawieh, a kidney transplant specialist at Brown University, was also deported at Boston airport after immigration officers discovered photos and videos showing "sympathy for the Hezbollah political party" on her phone.
Immigration experts say that student visa holders enjoy the same freedom of speech as U.S. citizens and are rarely deported for expressing political views. However, because of the temporary nature of the visa, they are a vulnerable group.
There are currently about 1.1 million international students in the US. These people are very worried and stressed about the risk of deportation under the Trump administration.
According to CNN, universities must commit to fully cooperating with the US Department of Homeland Security to manage their international students.
