This is the first large-scale fundraising event by Mr. Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC) since he won enough electoral votes in the primary election to become the party's presidential nominee in this year's election season.

Billionaire John Paulson hosted the event alongside a host of wealthy Republican donors, including billionaire Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah, oil tycoon Harold Hamm, casino magnate Steve Wynn, and TikTok investor Jeff Yass. Trump’s three former primary rivals, South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, appeared as special guests, according to CNN.

The proceeds from the event will be split between the Trump 47 Committee and the Save America political action committee (which is paying for Trump’s civil and criminal lawsuits). Attendees will need to pay between $250,000 and $814,600 per person. Some of the biggest donors will sit at the same table as Trump. CNN, citing four sources familiar with the matter, revealed that Trump had raised $50 million before the event began.
The figure is double that of the fundraising event for President Joe Biden's re-election campaign, which took place on March 28 in New York City (New York State) with the participation of Mr. Biden and two former Democratic presidents, Mr. Bill Clinton and Mr. Barack Obama.
The fundraising effort at Mar-a-Lago comes after the Trump campaign and RNC reported a combined $65.6 million in March, and entered April with $93.1 million in cash, according to The Hill .
Meanwhile, the Republican campaign remains far behind its Democratic rival. President Biden and the Democratic National Committee had more than $155 million in cash on hand at the end of the month.
