Breaking up a large-scale case of storing and trading primitive weapons

In early March 2025, through the work of grasping the situation on cyberspace, the reconnaissance team 2, Criminal Police Department, Da Nang City Police discovered a number of suspicious subjects related to the act of "Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations".

The Criminal Police Department coordinated with the Technical Department of the City Police to identify Pham VT (27 years old, residing in Hoa An ward, Cam Le district, Da Nang city) as an important "link", playing the role of a focal point for receiving, transporting and trading these types of "goods" in Da Nang.

After a period of investigation, the Criminal Police Department quickly found the masterminds and leaders of this ring operating in the southern provinces. Therefore, the Special Task Force sent 3 working groups consisting of 12 officers and soldiers to directly lead the investigation to Lam Dong, Long An and Ho Chi Minh City to verify and monitor the subjects in the Special Task Force.

On April 4, the Working Group in Long An province discovered that Huynh Trong Hiep, residing in Nhut Chanh commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province, was the person who received money from Pham VT (in Da Nang). At the same time, it was determined that Hiep was the subject hired by Nguyen Pham Duy (28 years old, residing in Can Duoc town, Can Duoc district, Long An province), one of the ring leaders, to work at a pawn shop in Nhut Chanh commune, Ben Luc district as a front.

Specifically, Duy assigned Huynh Trong Hiep to post and close orders for fake documents and certificates online, then transfer the order code to another department to ship to buyers nationwide and receive money from agents like Pham VT via account number.

At the same time, another working group also discovered two more subjects related to this line: Pham Viet Vinh (30 years old, residing in Vinh Loc B commune, Binh Chanh district) and Nguyen Thanh Dat (31 years old, residing in ward 12, Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City).

During the investigation, the detectives also discovered that Nguyen Pham Duy, Huynh Trong Hiep and other members of the ring, in addition to buying and selling fake diplomas and certificates, also stored and bought and sold large quantities of primitive weapons and support tools.

At 4:00 p.m. on April 7, in Nhut Chanh commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province, the working group here arrested Huynh Trong Hiep, confiscated many types of fake diplomas, certificates, land use right certificates, citizen identification cards... In addition, they also confiscated many types of homemade primitive weapons such as machetes, bayonets, long knifes, short knifes, air guns... and supporting tools such as pepper spray, electric batons, three-section sticks... with a quantity of 837 packages.

Another task force also simultaneously arrested Pham Viet Vinh at his home in Tan Thoi Hiep ward, district 12 and Nguyen Thanh Dat in Xuan Thoi Thuong ward, Hoc Mon district, Ho Chi Minh City.

As for Nguyen Pham Duy, he is currently on the run. The Criminal Police Department will continue to consolidate evidence against Duy and other related subjects to arrest him.

Quickly exploited, Huynh Trong Hiep admitted that all fake documents, weapons and supporting tools were brought by Nguyen Pham Duy for Hiep to "close the deal". From January 2025 to now, the amount of transactions in the accounts of the subjects is estimated at billions of dong.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by Da Nang City Police.
