Breaking up a 560 billion VND gambling ring, prosecuting 11 people

On the evening of June 9, Hau Giang Provincial Police announced that they had decided to prosecute 11 suspects in an online gambling ring with a total amount of VND560 billion.

The defendants include: Pham Thien Su (38 years old), Tran Van Ut Muoi (52 years old), Tran Duy Tan (33 years old), Duong Hoang Vu (38 years old), Lai Phai Nghia (40 years old), Le Tan Dat (47 years old), Nguyen Van Hoang (40 years old), Pham Hong Phuc (42 years old), Nguyen Tiet Thanh (51 years old), Le Van Ut (37 years old), Nguyen Chi An (39 years old).

Among them, two subjects Pham Thien Su and Tran Van Ut Muoi were identified as the ringleaders.

These two subjects received agency accounts from an acquaintance through social networks to organize online football betting and cockfighting activities through betting websites. At the same time, they created member accounts to provide gamblers with opportunities to participate in online football betting in tournaments and participate in betting on online cockfighting matches that take place every day.

When arrested, the suspects confessed that this gambling ring had been operating since 2022, with an average monthly transaction value of about 45 billion VND. By the time the police busted it, the amount of money the suspects used for transactions was about 560 billion VND.
