Breaking the biggest drug trafficking ring in Buon Ma Thuot

On November 24, according to information from Buon Ma Thuot City Police ( Dak Lak ), the unit prosecuted 3 suspects, clarifying the largest drug trafficking case ever in the city.

Through reconnaissance work, Buon Ma Thuot City Police discovered a drug gang operating very sophisticatedly on a large scale, so they established a special project.

After investigation, the police discovered that the suspect was Chu Minh Ngoc Thang, 34 years old, residing in Tu An ward, Buon Ma Thuot city. This person had two previous convictions of 9 years in prison, both for Intentional Infliction of Injury.

At around 2:30 p.m. on August 26, authorities discovered Thang driving a motorbike carrying a cargo box out of his house on Hung Vuong Street, Tu An Ward, showing many suspicious signs, so a working group of Buon Ma Thuot City Police inspected.

Here, police discovered 4,960 MDMA pills and 1kg of ketamine hidden in a box of herbal medicine.

Expanding the investigation of the case, at the end of August 2024, the police force arrested Le Xuan Luu (53 years old), residing in Hoa Phu commune, Buon Ma Thuot city, and Quang Minh Dung (18 years old, residing in Que Phong district, Nghe An ).

Buon Ma Thuot City Police have decided to prosecute Chu Minh Ngoc Thang for “Illegal drug trafficking”; prosecute Le Xuan Luu for “Illegal possession of drugs”; and prosecute Quang Minh Dung for “Illegal transportation of drugs”.

The unit has transferred Chu Minh Ngoc Thang's file to the Dak Lak Provincial Police Investigation Agency for handling according to its authority.
