Striving to open 24km Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway on December 19

Many contractors of the component project 1, the An Giang section of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway, have begun laying asphalt concrete, in time for the opening of traffic on December 19 as directed by the Prime Minister.

On November 22, Lieutenant Colonel Le Xuan Dai - Director of Truong Son 11 Management Board (Truong Son Construction Corporation) - said that the unit is constructing package No. 42 in Vinh Te ward, An Giang province. This is the first contractor of the entire project to complete the crushed stone grading and enter the asphalt concrete paving phase on the main route of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway.

After completing the asphalt pavement on the main route, the contractor will continue to install median strips, road markings and protective fence systems along both sides of the expressway. To date, the value of the construction volume has reached 1,550 billion VND, equivalent to 67.4%, exceeding the plan by 1.1%.

"From now until December 19, we strive to complete more than 2km of asphalt concrete. The remaining part will continue to ensure sand and crushed stone sources for synchronous implementation on the entire route under the responsibility of the unit," said Mr. Dai.

Mr. Vo Dai Thach, Deputy General Director of Thanh Huy Group Joint Stock Company, said that the unit is constructing package No. 45 of the An Giang province component project 1 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway. Since November 21, hundreds of workers and equipment have been mobilized to urgently lay the first layer of asphalt concrete in Vinh Hanh commune.

"We aim to complete about 4km of asphalt concrete by December 19. Currently, the unit is operating equipment at full capacity, organizing construction in 3 shifts, 4 teams to ensure progress," said Mr. Thach.

The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project Phase 1 has a total length of more than 188km, passing through An Giang province and Can Tho city. The section passing through An Giang alone is 57km long with a total investment of 13,526 billion VND, including four bidding packages.

The leader of the An Giang Provincial Project Management Board said that four construction packages of component project 1 are being implemented simultaneously, mobilizing maximum human resources and equipment, and organizing many construction teams to closely follow the overall progress.

"Up to now, the entire project has reached over 67% of the volume, exceeding the plan. We are trying to cover 24/57km of asphalt concrete according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, but we cannot cover the entire 57km of asphalt concrete.

Therefore, depending on each bid package, there will be different volumes of asphalt, the rest will continue to be filled with sand and crushed stone to aim for the goal of clearing the route," he said.
