
At the meeting, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi quickly reported on the impact and damage caused by natural disasters in the area from November 17 to 21. In just a few days, floods caused damage to the locality of over 1,000 billion VND. Specifically, up to now, 5 people have died, 1 person has been injured; over 2,000 households in 12 localities have suffered damage to their houses; 74 houses have collapsed and been completely swept away by floods. Floods have also damaged nearly 3,500 hectares of crops, mainly flowers; over 18,000 poultry and more than 620 cattle have been swept away; many key traffic routes have been seriously eroded, especially the Prenn, Mimosa, and D'ran passes, gateways to the center of Da Lat, have been blocked due to landslides, Lam Dong province has had to declare an emergency situation.
Lam Dong province has focused on directing, responding to, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; arranging forces and means to evacuate people to safe places; arranging accommodation, food, and drinking water, not letting people go hungry or cold. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lam Dong province has deployed relief and social security work, mobilizing resources to support the people. Up to now, it has received and distributed to the damaged communes more than 30 billion VND and dozens of tons of necessities.

According to Mr. Ho Van Muoi, the province is currently prioritizing the damage to schools, medical stations, environmental sanitation, ensuring that people can soon stabilize their lives; at the same time, focusing all efforts on overcoming landslides on key traffic routes, striving to temporarily open Prenn Pass to traffic in the next 3 days. Along with that, the province continues to implement repairs at landslide locations. In the next 10 days, Mimosa Pass will be opened to traffic, reducing the load on the gateway passes of Da Lat, ensuring safe traffic.
Also at the meeting, the leader of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that the need for support to overcome the consequences of natural disasters in the province is very large. The province proposed and recommended that the Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Bui Thi Minh Hoai, consider and support funding for the locality to carry out the recovery work with an amount of 800 billion VND; consider supporting 1,000 tons of rice; equipment for natural disaster prevention and control for the locality.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai highly appreciated Lam Dong's work in preventing and fighting natural disasters and floods, helping people minimize damage. Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai assessed Lam Dong as one of the five provinces that suffered heavy damage due to floods in recent days, and accepted Lam Dong's recommendations. Thereby, she will report to the Politburo and the Central Committee to have solutions to remove and support difficulties for the locality.
The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front requested the province to focus on reviewing dangerous areas, proactively bringing people to safe places, providing accommodation, medicine, and promptly preventing post-flood epidemics; proactively introducing mechanisms and policies, reducing and exempting interest rates, lending capital to people to restore production and stabilize their lives; continuing to care about the lives of the people and the disadvantaged, not letting anyone go hungry or cold.

On the same morning, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Bui Thi Minh Hoai inspected, visited and presented gifts to households affected by floods in Ka Do commune. Comrade Bui Thi Minh Hoai also presented 20 billion VND from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to Lam Dong province to overcome the damage caused by natural disasters and floods.
