Vaccination is one of the most effective disease prevention measures, contributing to protecting public health and minimizing the risk of spreading dangerous infectious diseases. In Vietnam, the Expanded Immunization Program was implemented in 1981 and officially applied nationwide in 1985. Thanks to that, many dangerous infectious diseases such as polio were eliminated (in 2000) and neonatal tetanus was eliminated (in 2005).
Currently, the program provides free 12 vaccines to prevent 11 common infectious diseases for children and pregnant women./.
