Au Co cruise ship was discovered by authorities to be illegally organizing events in Ha Long Bay.

Previously, on July 12, a working group of the Ha Long City People's Committee discovered that 120 tourists on the passenger list of the two ships Au Co 01 QN-8889 and Au Co 02 QN-8989; 30 tourists on the passenger list of the ship Star Light QN-7777 were organizing recreational activities on Ban Chan sandbank, Bo Hung island (Ha Long Bay).

Working with the working group, Mr. Mac Thanh Cong (captain of the ship Au Co 01 QN-8889) and Mr. Tran Van Hoan (captain of the ship Au Co 02 QN-8989) said that bringing the above number of passengers to the Ban Chan sandbank area was under the direction of Mr. Le Viet Duc, Executive Director of Bhaya Yacht Company Limited (owner of the ships Au Co 01 and 02).

Through checking legal documents, the working group confirmed that the captains of the vessels had presented all the documents and papers related to passenger transport activities in Ha Long Bay. However, the captains had not yet provided the approval documents from the competent authorities to allow the pick-up and drop-off of passengers to the Ban Chan sandbank area to organize the event.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Ba Cuong (captain of ship QN-7777) said that letting passengers go to Ban Chan sandbank area (Ha Long Bay) was under the direction of the sales department of Hai Phong Company Limited and had not yet provided the approval documents from the competent authority to allow picking up and dropping off passengers to Ban Chan sandbank area to organize events.

The case is being further investigated and strictly handled by the People's Committee of Ha Long City in accordance with the provisions of law.

It is known that last year, two cruise ships Au Co 01 and Au Co 02 of Bhaya Cruise Company Limited were fined 12 million VND for combining two ships together like the "Battle of Red Cliffs" to organize an event in Ha Long Bay.

According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, Ban Chan sandbank area is not allowed to organize entertainment events. In addition, cruise ships visiting Ha Long Bay must take passengers on the itinerary for which they have purchased tickets according to the sightseeing routes prescribed by the authorities.
